The "Holy Grail" of Star Fox

Let's see, what else?

Has anyone mentioned those figures (Fox, Falco, Slippy, and Peppy) used on the original Star Fox box art?  I would *love* to know what happened to those.

I have been told they have turned up in a few places in the mid 90's but after the game was set and launched they soon disappeared.  They are probably in some developer's house somewhere.

They are, though... THREE FEET TALL.  Which I thought was astounding.  I figured them to be about 16 inches... But they are monsters.  I want them... D:

I figured they had to be somewhat large for them to have that much detail in the images.

I'd kill for a SLIPPY hat.

On a side note, they sure put some baggy-ass pants on those figures. O_o

One thing I don't understand is why their ankles are so tiny.  Like they're all wearing prosthetic feet or something.

But I guess they just look small compared to the baggy pants...

You would probably get your ass kicked if you were seen with a Slippy hat :P

A Slippy hat, eh?

All you need is a standard red, solid cloth, 6-panel standard baseball cap, adjustable or not (If you know your hat size, I'm 7 1/4, although I grew out my hair so much I might have to wear a 7 1/2 now, hee hee!)

and a blue patch with yellow lettering on it reading "SLIPPY", you could probably custom order the patch from a specialty apparel shop...hell, they might even sew it onto the hat for ya'!

I meant an official one. You know, like the Club Nintendo Mario Hats.  To my knowledge, they do not exist.

Tell everyone you have the only official Slippy hat in the world :P

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood.  Yeah, me and some other SF fans a while back in '97 tried to find those as well, the "Official Slippy Hats", but yeah, they don't exist.  I hope you can get one if they ever do come into existence.

Heh, so I was scanning ebay for Star Fox under collectibles, and, among the ton of things that have nothing to do with Star Fox, I saw model Arwings and Landmasters for sale by the same company that hand makes em, expensive ass things, but great quality, and you can have em custom painted, or even just have em make Wolfens and such, Arwings are like a foot long (likely wingtip to wingtip), and 178 dollars with 40 dollar shipping lol, why does all the good stuff have to be expensive lol.

As for my SF grail, I suppose I would still say the Japanese Itoh comic. Either that or an authentic Super Famicom SF2 dev cart.

So, what is your "Holy Grail" of Star Fox?

Only 4 exist.  Eight were released to magazine companies to do a review.  4 were returned.  1 has been in auction and it fetched about 10 grand.  You won't see the others.  They were in japanese, anyhow.

Right now, MY SF Holy Grail is StarFox for the Wii!

:D

Yee-ss.  I believe so.  I also think he died too... D:  I forget.  Some staff member there died.  The guy who did Fox's voice... I can't remember his name.  I'd have to go back into my email and look.

Oh... wait... Dan Olsen?  I think?

Oh I have been around everywhere... No one ever sees me because I read things and don't really post.  I lurk on my own forum a lot.

That was a rumor about SF:Adventures, Steve Malpass, because he had supposedly disappeared for a while from a stint with Cancer.  He's alive.  His last game was Banjo Kazooie and he still works with Rare.

Rumor is false! :D

So far as getting a "free copy of SF2", it's not really pirating.  If I was pirating, that means I'm paying money to Jobber "A", because I didn't want to pay money to Corporation "B".

Nintendo is not making money on SF2 for snes, because it was never released.  However, if they decided to release a copy for the Wii Virtual console, THEN... and only then... does it become piracy.  Besides, the rom is free.  I have it on my cellphone and play LADY (Fara Phoenix) in multiplayer, shooting at a straight-flying Saru, Fox, Slippy or Falco, lol.

I also have the american-patched version but because the phone's hardware is lacking in muscle, it's super laggy to play the finished / near finished version.  Ah well.
