HoshiKitsunuki
No offense, Foxer... but it appears that you are the one who is making a fool of yourself right now.Phox never said that. I have not read anywhere that even makes it appear as if he was to have claimed that.If you know the guy, and I mean KNOW HIM. Not just hop around and speculate, you would know he's been animating cartoons since he was about 6 or 7. He's been into making movies and shorts his whole life. He can call his cartoons whatever he likes because they are his. You know? That is the beauty of things these days, you are free to make choices, call things what you like. Now I am sure if Nintendo made their own cartoon, and called it the SAME THING, it would still be difficult to get them confused. Phox has his own style which is very distinctive.Sort of like Mike Judge. He also has a very unique cartooning style and hey! It worked out great for him! So, you should give Phox at least a chance. It's not like we wouldn't like to have a serious, huge staffed StarFox series with fantastic animation and thousands of dollars behind it, don't get me wrong. However, maybe Phox is onto something. The more animations and movies and shorts there are, maybe it might wake someone up at Nintendo and get them listening.Another beauty of the internet. If you tweet, blog, and forum they will come.Similarly to how the VS mode arwing in Command had pink G-Diffusers. That was not just an accident they weren't red like you'd think. ENTIRELY my fault! <
Mr. Foxer
Whenever you see a movie that has been made into a game, it's almost always called "x - the game" or book to movie etc. "x - the movie". Those are always official. He could not call it whatever he wanted unless it really was a parody, he does not own SF, nothing is free in this world so live with it. HoshiKitsunuki
You can't control what he calls his animation, Foxer. That's my point. Regardless of if you care for it or not, it's his animation. Unless some official tells him he has to change it (which is real unlikely). Why does it upset you so much anyway, if you don't mind me asking? XDMy favorite ones were the ones MaryBeth did way back in the day. There were some other good ones too, but the artists' names escape me.
HoshiKitsunuki
MaryBeth had some amazing looking StarFox artwork. I really liked her stuff a lot. And all by hand, it was amazing. With crayons even. That's just scary... XD
Fredryk Phox
Okay.First off, I'd like to say hi to everyone. How's it goin'. I'm this "Fredryk Phox" guy, the one making this animated StarFox series.I'm not going to waste anyone's time or try to incite any sort of negative events here, I would just like to explain myself, and what I'm working on, and of course, the nature of this person who's attacking me for something they don't even know anything about yet, other than the name, and the rather different look of the characters involved.A few days ago, I had been working on this animated series for almost a month by then, so I decided to go to AL's forums and post about it. At first some people were skeptical, which is normal, because we all know how many people have been claiming to be working on a new 'starfox cartoon' for the past few years, but after everyone realized that I was seriously following through, and constantly uploading bits of progress, I noticed people started actually enjoying it. This really helps, because I've constantly felt unsure of whether or not this was even going to be worth my time, until people actually told me that they were going to be watching for it. Then, a day or two later, I received a post from this one guy who apparently had been busting his rear end to get a team together for his own animated StarFox show. He said the following:"Hey. I noticed you were making an animated series.... DARN YOU! You beat me to my idea! (actually, you didnt. lol) jk. Looks good, but something more for comedy central. lolz.Anyway, I'm trying to create a series myself, only its based off of SF (SNES) and SF64. We need help in the animation department and getting a website up. If we could partner up, it would be very helpful.By the way: If we do do this, we might have to change the names..."Feeling a bit interested in replying to him and at least giving him some advice or even trying to help, I decided to respond to him when I got home from work. (I work 40-50 hours a week working midnight shifts at a busy gas station downtown from Chicago, so I didn't really have any chance to write anything back at work.)Within only a few hours I returned home, and before I had even had a chance to respond and tell this person that I was possibly interested in taking up the role of 'lead animator' or at least -an- animator for a collaborative project, I got another message from the same person, since I hadn't replied to the first one within... 2-3 hours of receiving it. (Again, like I said, I work pretty long shifts with no breaks, so I didn't have the time to until I got home.) The second message read as follows:"Okay, so you're not even going to CONSIDER listening to me? Im trying to do something fun here, and you are too. Ignoring me is just going to piss me off. Sending me a rude message back will make me want to hunt you down and make you suffer (notice the WANT, not WILL). Im sorry, but unless I can help, Im not going to be happy."WELL LAH-DEE-DAH.And not several hours after that, the guy's own "I'M MAKING TEH STARFOX MOVIE" thread was deleted by himself from AL, he retracted from the forums and came back here, and ping-ponged replies back and forth with one of his buddies about how HORRIBLE my animated StarFox series is going to be.Making an animated StarFox series has been something I've wanted to do since I was about 8 or 9 years old, making little post-it notepad flip-books of Fox McCloud dancing to Genesis's "I Can't Dance." Still, I never imagined, especially back then, that I'd ever make it this far with something, let alone have this much -fun- with it.And that's what I'm trying to say here, it's all about FUN. I'm not making any money off of this, and it's hard enough getting done what I -am- getting done working so much all the time. I try to bring my tablet and computer into work when I can, but it's not like it's slow enough to get anything done there anyway. So what if the characters look different? Even when I was 8 or 9 years old, the way I drew StarFox characters didn't look much like the originals, and not because I was less than 10 years old, I just enjoy throwing my own little spin on things; I always have.I don't know how in the name of God all this backlash started, but apparently it's all from the fact that I'm calling my cartoon "StarFox - The Animated Series." I don't see anyone else using that title, and if they already had or were, regardless of whether or not I thought my cartoon would end up being better, I would've changed it to something else. But now since I've already set this in e-stone, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to call a fan-based cartoon project anything that I want.If I missed anything, let me know. DZComposer
I want you to know that I fully support your project, and that their opinions are not that of SFO. We officially try to appreciate all forms of fanart, provided they are not pornographic in nature or slasher-film violent. To everyone else: Let's not have the fact that there are two SF fanfilm projects in the works turn into a flame war, and especially please do not insult those who are working on the projects. We didn't erupt into flames about the superiority of Project Kursed, Shadows of Lylat, or Paths of Fate, so why do we need to with these projects? Not to mention it makes our community look hostile and bad to artists. These projects can co-exist, so let's drop the childish animosity now. And also, remember that e-mail and forum posts are not instant communication. Don't be a n00blet and think you're being ignored if you don't get a quick reply. And what's up with the threats? C'mon, people, I thought you guys were better than that. You know the rule about threats, so no more. Especially none use SFO's systems.Fred, on behalf of StarFox-Online, I sincerely apologize for their behavior.
Fredryk Phox
In no way would I ever relate the rude behavior of somebody from a forum to the actual forum itself, so don't worry about that. Like I said on AL, I'm just thankful that so many people have been so supportive, and really there hasn't been that much backlash from anyone, save for a few individuals. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, of -course-, but I guess some people just have a harder time expressing them in a civil manner. Thanks again, and no need to apologize for the actions of others, everyone from AL and SFO has been frightfully pleasant so far.
Tiberius
Alright. If you're going to put words in my mouth, then you might as well start saying "throw this guy in jail because he doesn't like me." I didn't make a threat that I know of. I was simply stating you made me mad and made a comparison of how mad I got. There's no need to think Im a troll or lunatic. I simply believe that even though it's a parody, it still isn't even remotely linked to Starfox. While it may be entertaining, and I do think it's entertaining to a small degree (I don't like dumb funny) which I do think it's somewhat entertaining, you have absolutely no moral right to call it THE (which I stress for exact meaning) Animated Series. You could give it a more entertaining title which fit the description more accurately. And FYI Ant, although Im 15, I know stuff about the 80's. I'm an abnormal teenager (given the reason I like Star Trek slot).I apologise if I sounded threatening or offensive, but Im not doubting your creativity, Im doubting your choice of commedic lines, which the morrisey one was good given the criteria, but if you're going to use that line use it on a more fitting charracter. Don't forget Falco's from Brookland. (lol not really)About getting mad, I don't like it when you respond to one person in one day and another (me) four days later or however longer it was. Now that I understand why, I do apologise. Other than that, I give what you got a 3/5 which is decent. And by the way, don't make fun of me for thinking I could try and make an animated movie. It just pisses me off and makes me want to leave altogether, just so I don't destroy my own computer. I know that trying to do that was stupid. But I had an idea and I wanted to make it happen, just like you. So I definently got off on the wrong foot from the start and made it worse. Yes. I'm not a troll and can admit that I made a stupid mistake. We all do it a lot in our lives because it's natural. So if you can forgive me instead of backlashing again, I'll just mind my own buisness or get my sense of humor back so we can all have a good time with this. HoshiKitsunuki
Again, it is his series, he can call it whatever he likes. He has the right to do what he feels with his work. That's like telling any artist they can't name their work what they want. There is no reason that he can't.
Tiberius
I'm not telling him he can't do it, Im telling him it doesn't fit well to me. Now hopefully this will be the last post concerning me explaining myself because it feels like Im gonna have a heart attack from the sudden wall of return backlashes. In other words, I hate getting cornered and that's exactly how I feel.
Fredryk Phox
Alright, I can see what this is boiling down to, the title of my cartoon. I'm sure if I called it something like "The Misadventures of Fuchs McCleod and Falconius Lombardo" there'd still be something discovered (and just as heavily discussed) to be horribly wrong with it.If anyone still wants to keep watch for the progress on my animated series, just watch the site. I may make an official thread for it here, assuming that would be a good/safe idea, but until then, www.StarFoxSeries.com will have to do.Either way, I'm done. Tiberius
.............. that really had not much to do with it. Truthfully, it was me feeling jealous because you got so much more support than I do and did so much more. But, I think more like an engineer so Im willing to bet that's why I didn't do so well because I was unprepared and presented my ideas at the wrong time. Like right now. But if you're going to assume, fine by me. I leap without looking, I guess you can do it too. But if you're going to accept my apology, it's here and Im not taking it back. This is where I finish. If I get another return backlash, who cares? Its just an internet cartoon and I realize that. The hard way.(and now I feel much better after letting that out.) DZComposer
The reason he got immediate support is he had things to show. Once your project gets to that point, it will gain support, too. That is why I had told you in the past to wait until you had something before advertising it. I don 't doubt that in the end, your project will be nice as well.Fred, if you want to create a thread, go ahead. I'll even sticky it. I'll also make sure our other staff help me keep the drama out of it.
