So who else got snowed in?

I've got close relatives in Minnesota, which I'll visit this summer if everything goes as planned.

Of all the people who left Norway to settle down in the US, almost all moved to the states at the northern border, as that had the climate most similar to what they was used to. Particulary Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana have a lot of inhabitants of Norwegian decent.

All abord the FAIL-boat!

Minnasota is the cloesst state to me.

Oh!  Mobile Bay, near Fort Morgan!  Y'know, Fort Morgan is of the same design and layout as Fort McHenry, where we repelled the British in 1814 and Frances Scott Key, while out on a British ship, wrote the lyrics to what would become the Star Spangled Banner.  I mean... the two forts are friggin' IDENTICAL, it's just WEIRD.

That's awesome; yeah, lots of culture and historical goodness down in that area.  ^_^

And humidity.  My ex-mother in law was born in Alabama.

And yeah, I see why you wouldn't have had snow in an age.  Well, let me just tell you about snow... IT IS COLD.  After a few snow balls, the palm of your hand turns red and it has this odd sting where you just don't feel anything.  Then it goes numb... but not the PINS AND NEEDLES kind of numb... more like the "A wasp stung the same place on my palm four times" kind of numb.  It's a bite worse than fire ants.  So, you pack a few more snowballs and throw a few more.  Now it creeps up in your fingertips and under your nails.  Sometimes it happens the other way around and your fingers hurt before your palm.  That's when you realize that snow can be a miserable, unforgiving, cold bastard... just like my wonderful, beautiful and decidedly evil ex-wife, God love her.  >_>

LOL, Asper, more like... that's the Ice Queen's Yacht.

I'm snowed in pretty bad. Took me and my dad about two hours to our drive way shoveled, and to be honest we really haven't even finished it, it's kinda just a patchwork job.

Of course we live out in the country so our drivway is a lot larger than others.

Don'tcha wish you had a blaster, so you could just charge up a shot and blast out a path as long as your front walk?  That would be SO much easier!

We have Fort Conde too :P It isn't as interesting as Fort Morgan, and I would know! I've been to both!

I kinda know what snow is like, my uncle brought some down with him from Indiana in the bed of his truck once. :P It was just cold enough here to keep it from melting for a couple of days so we made snowballs and threw them at each other. It was fun.

We have a LOT of museums in the area, too!

Totally! Then I wouldn't have to take so many damn breaks because of my feet freezing up. >_<

That's actually a REALLY good explanation for why it doesn't snow here either! I never thought about it that way!

Hehe, well that's what happens, The ocean keeps the summers cooler, and the winters warmer.

However I can not recall the last time I have had such a lack of snow... I sure hope it snows a whole bunch in march or something wacky like that.

edit: Oh snap, I just posted and already my other post is an old post.

I only had 4 inches of snow in my area for three days. It was pretty cool to see snow in my area again for the first time in five years, but it didn't last very long though.

GEE, IT MUST BE DAT DERE "GLOBAL WARMIN'" EVER'ONE KEEP TALKIN' 'BOUT!

Ahem.  Knowing our luck, we'll have a repeat of the mid 1300's, a mini-ice age.  I've got dibs on the first Stratovarius-like GUITAR or DRUMS on the market.  Yeah, baby.  They'll sound AWESOME in several hundred years!

But if there are sun spots or something happens that causes another mini-ice-age, will people start laughing at Al Gore?  Well... NOT ME, I say!  I'll NEVER laugh at the man that gave us... THE INTERNET!

Thanks to then-Senator Gore for helping to pass THE INTERNET through the great and mighty inner workings of TEH SENATE so that we might have answers to all our questions and amusement for all our snowed-in-days!  Weee! He should have been given a Nobel Peace prize for THAT!  AS WITH ALL OF THE PEOPLE ON THE SENATE ON THAT MIGHTY DAY OF HISTORICAL AWESOMENESS!  lol

Know the power of my facetious, sarcastic ways.

So yeah... just to be straight, here... it's not global warming or a lack thereof.  The dew point dropped, a cold front came in from one direction, a storm full of precipitation came from another direction... and BAM!  Snow flakes are all up in my grille.  My Webber is buried! (See pictures from the first post!)

a'hem.

Aw, snap, and we were JUST talking about Tennessee, greenest state in the land of the free!  Hey, East Tennessee gets snow!  If you're up in the mountains, that is.  I used to live in Sevierville, not too far from Dollywood.  Saw lots of yankee tourists, and lots of mountains.  And this time of year... those mountains always got snow, just... you know... not the valley.

Did you know that the recent cold actually CAN BE caused by global warming? :P As the polar ice caps melt, it releases the colder water in to the ocean currents, and when they get cold enough, they reverse and start going the opposite direction, making it uncharacteristically colder in some areas, and warmer in other areas. It's really a fascinating thing. I took a class that dealt with it.

Yeah.  It's the AVERAGE temperature of the planet rising by x-amount of degrees.  It would allegedly cause the equator to cool a touch, but the rest of the planet to warm a touch... But the planet has gone through these cycles a LOT of times in the past, and that is the most inconvenient of all truths.

Needless to say, I PROMISE that the world will NOT undergo the changes made popular in the movie, "Day After Tomorrow".  The glaciers ARE cracking and melting, but it won't cause the middle of the planet to turn into an ice patch, consisting of ice that is slightly warmer than apparent glacial ice.

I mean... it's obvious we're ALL going to die on December 21st 2012 (Party at my place!), but it's because Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z will have run out of letters, and we'll MAGICALLY cease to exist!  xDDD

So... how about that snow, SF-O? lol

So that's where all our snow went! We haven't had a single inch this year, which has never happened before. We never get more then a foot, but we've never had none either.

I'll bet shoveling that walk was fun.

I heard about it not snowing much up there in Canada, and that they have to get snow from the mountains for the Olympics, they can take all my snow ;)

As a drummer, snow shoveling can be a very good upper-body work out, which is the reason I typically chop wood.  It's better than paying money for some local gym.

I love snow, anyhow.  It's quiet, it's attractive to look at when it's fresh, and it kills germs.  All in all, snow is awesome. :D

I like snow, but when you have no furnace to keep you warm, it sucks ;)
