Darn im way too late. I was going to ask if you needed an extra voice for your cast. Oh well seems like an interesting thing to watch.

The future.  The cartoon is not finished yet :B

Do you plan on releasing the episodes as you finish them like episode 1, then 2 then so on... or when all of them are finished?

Where do you post the episodes?

On TV?

YOUTUBEZ?

Your Site?

He hasn't really completed the series yet, though he has animated storyboards on his site and a fully animated musical scene on YouTube if that helps.

By the way Fred, have you had to do anything with Nintendo regarding the show to avoid lawsuits, or do they not know it exists?

I think if he mentions that all rights belong to Nintendo and that this is and independant series based off the games. I think he'll be alright.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a greenlight from Nintendo. Their general policy is to say no when asked.

That said, Nintendo is usually pretty lax on fanworks, so long as they don't make money or confuse people into thinking Nintendo was involved.

There was some hubbub over a Zelda fanfilm that they C&D'd, but it turned out that the creators took said film to a for-profit film festival. Oops.

Then, Picard's facepalm pretty nicely describes their situation.

Your right DZ, but I have seen Nintendo C&D Non profit fan works as well. Even if they aren't earning money, if it can hurt the franchis's reputation to where people loose interest in it they can still C&D it through some loophole. I remember there was a Zelda fan game that was shut down LONG time ago on Mod Database. I still think is wrong when the people just want to have fun showing dedication. If Nintendo hates people making fan works to the point where it attracts a lot of attention, it should be something encouraged not taken away so long as they aren't making a profit. Technically fan art is considered something that can be C&D'd too if it gets a lot of attention and effects the franchise, even if it was a piece of art that you have drawn and placed on the site for free, they can order to take it down. Personally I feel it's almost like Nazi Germany when they burned the books to prevent people from learning. It might not feel like they don't want us to learn or express ideas off Nintendo game, but the number of things being pulled off or having their names changed almost feels like they don't want to pass the torch. I know Nintendo ain't evil, they are protecting what ground they have in this industry for what is possibly one of the most expensive game competitions in our history.

It's not that they don't want anyone to do it. They just don't want people to make a profit from it without giving nintendo credit or a share of it i guess

I apologize if it sounds contradicting. What I'm trying to say is never assume that because someone who worked with Nintendo for instance, (Dylan Cuthbert of the original Star Fox and Star Fox command), say's that so long as your not making a profit out of it they wont C&D it doesn't mean Nintendo still wont do it. If it effects or ruins the way people think about that franchise or poses as something hurtful or "Attacking" it can be pulled down.

Short version: Nintendo might (or will) remove it due to copyright claims. I'm personally not getting my hopes up anyway.

Ya never know. But understandable reason.

I for one am still excited for this if it does come out. I think it will end out being great. =]

Nintendo can C&D a lot of stuff that's out there. They could C&D DeviantArt. They could C&D YouTube. They could C&D OverClocked Remix. Hell, Nintendo could even C&D SFO because of the images, documents, and music we host. But they won't. For every case that Nintendo C&D'd a fan project, there are 5 that they didn't. They only C&D fanworks when a line is crossed. I want to say the game you mentioned was a straight-up remake of OoT. That's more that just fanwork; that's redistributing OoT, albiet with updated graphics.

  • 2 weeks later...

Started working on some animation again yesterday.

If you recall, there's a scene I mentioned where it flashes back to James McCloud and Cael O'Donnell, stranded on a hostile planet where people are infected by a strange alien disease.

I got some more of this scene done the other day, including the voice (I'm doing Cael in the scene right now just as practice, until we get ahold of the actual voice actor), and it's coming together pretty nicely.

Doing pretty good so far!

I don't know if it is just me but the scene seems to remind me of Fallout: New Vegas...
