StarFox - The Animated Series

STILL ALIVE

I've not had a lot of time outside of my 72-hour-a-week pest control job, plus I've been really sick for a few weeks, but I'm taking a vacation later this month to visit family, and hopefully spend a few weeks buckling down on some animation and voice work. I've gotten several more scenes voiced, scored, and sound FX'ed, and I still have some musical segments to get recorded.

As you can probably tell from the tumblr, Fox looks a bit more defined, while Wolf's voice has had a re-haul, and I'm much happier with it now; instead of a snooty, dastardly villain, he just sounds more like an authentic prick. I'll have some animatics to post soon.

Nah, just the change of weather. We don't work with anything on a regular basis that's even remotely dangerous to humans

I gotta say, I really love this new voice you have done for Wolf. The only bad thing about having a new voice for him is that you have to re-record the "Look Out, It's Star Wolf" song. Unless of course singing voices will intentionally be different for comedic purposes.

Well, I gotta say that this is one of the most amazing things I've seen come out of the internet. I've seen plenty of Star-Fox related fan-animations, but mostly they're 30 seconds long and done in MS Paint by some 10 year old. This, however, is really something. It takes a lot of effort to even plan something like this, but to follow through on this takes a really determined man. Not only is it well-written and produced, the use of animation layered over live action backgrounds really makes this visually interesting. Truly spectacular, Mr. Phox. Truly, truly, truly outrageous fantastic.

I wanted to say Jem, but...

anyway finally got around to sticking Miyu in somewhere.

A little spot for now, but she'll be a recurring character, most definitely.

I gotta say, you did a pretty damn good job with Miyu's design considering your art style. My only minor gripe is that you kinda forgot about that earring she wears.

Also, will Fay be in this as well? I'm kinda curious as to what she will look like.

So, how much of this do you have actually recorded? I've seen a bunch of concept sketches, .gif's, and screenshots, but not much video-wise or audio-wise (about 3 minutes worth, I guess). Obviously, this stuff takes time, lots of time, and you're doing most of this alone save for the music and voice acting, so there probably isn't much.

Miyu looks great. Can't wait to see how she's implemented.

I tried watching this series a while ago but could never find it. Could anybody give me a link?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect any of the episodes to come out until around mid-2013 or 2014, at earliest.

Great, now that's stuck in my head again D: 80s cartoon writers sure knew how to write annoyingly catchy theme lyrics, eh?

Great, now I'm turning Canadian :P

Early plot summary: Two years after the Andross Conflict, Fox cuts himself off from society, having burnt out from all the fame and attention. Eight more years pass, and one day during a very-Fox-oriented TV talk show interview, Falco leaves the set prematurely and decides to hunt Fox down to see what he's been up to.

The two catch up after eight long years, before Falco convinces Fox to come back to civilization and see his old friends.

tumblr_mcad1xcwpW1rr63m7o1_1280.jpg

Fox checks up on Miyu and Fara, both serving in the Cornerian Military Police...

..and soon enough runs into Wolf O'Donnell, who Fox is convinced is still up to no good.

More updates to come later.

I still love the animation style. The plot idea is interesting, and each new picture from it makes me more excited to see it.

It's alive!

..I mean, he's alive!

Those look great and I'm sure the actual show will still be amazing. Great work and keep it up, Fred.

Looks beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished project :D

Judging by the previews, it looks like it'll be a musical of some sort (I've seen at least two songs and a gif of Fox playing a piano on the Tumblr), which is interesting considering this is based on Star Fox, but I'm not sure how fresh that concept will be after 6 episodes (even to a music lover/musician and SF fan like myself). However, if it's just for one or two episodes, it's definitely a fresh concept.

I don't think he's using it as a gimmick so much as a proper storytelling device, like the way proper musicals use songs to convey turning points in character arcs. It'll stay "fresh" that way.

Besides, Fred's an incredible musician and his style is unique enough to carry it, not like a throwaway musical segment from Spongebob or whatever.
