The story of the last(?) man on Earth

The land is barren; nothing can be seen for miles at times. Occasionally I may find a patch of forestry. There is only silence, no laughter of children, and no birds singing their sweet songs that would fill ones heart with joy. The silence was at first unbearable, now it has become natural to me.  I walk the Earth alone. Everyday I am hopeful, hopeful that I am wrong, and that I am not the only one left on this planet. Each day, I search for a sign, a sign that someone, or something, is still here, still here as well as me. For months I have searched now, I have found nothing, no one. Then one day, a light, a sign..

I don't plan on writing any further but if I have enough encouragement I may add on.
