X-Gamer
If I went blind, I would cry. I could not bear to lose my sight for it affects almost everything I do. This thread actually has made me be glad about having eyes that work. And if I did lose my eyesight, I would notify everyone I know, including this forum, right away by getting someone to type the message for me. Great. Now I'm starting to feel sorry for the blind. :(

Guest Julius Quasar
I'd hate to be blind. I would try to sign up for bionic/cybernetic eye beta testing if I were to go blind.I don't care if I end up looking like a bad robot from Battlestar Glactica. I couldn't sit still and do nothing. Besides, it could open up a lot of possibilities for software upgrades as technology progresses. Target tracking, night vision, heat vision, etc. etc.
Vy'drach
They actually do have cybernetic eyes for blind people, its still experimental, but several years ago they hooked cameras hidden behind sunglasses into the brain through surgery, and the person could see well enough like that to drive safely, I imagine the technology has only gotten better. They are naturally far from as good as the real deal, and I don't know how long they lasy before something nned replacing or repairing, but they are definatively on their way. Whoa! No way! Awesome! Yeah...another thing about being blind, one could always take up playing the blues, on the harmonica and the guitar. Try visiting Mississippi as well if you're gonna take up being a blind blues player, Mississippi is the birthplace of da' blues.
Mr. Krystal
No. I'm to stubborn to let a little thing like blindness keep me from doing what I love.Programming wouldn't be all that difficult to do blind. The computer has text-to-audio tools and programming is largely a mental activity. Then there's the rapid advancements in cybernetic eyesight that would reduce the effects. With 3D sound systems in many games today, some games can be played purely by sound.

Mr.Krystal is right, you shouldn't let things no matter how big or small (unless it's a life or death situation) get in the way of letting you do things you love. Although that stuff only works on people who could see. Without visual memory it doesn't work. (you have to learn to see)No. I'm to stubborn to let a little thing like blindness keep me from doing what I love.Programming wouldn't be all that difficult to do blind. Guest DRL
Still I would get my pair of ciber-eyes if I ever got blind. Mr. Krystal
That's cool. Although that stuff only works on people who could see. Without visual memory it doesn't work. (you have to learn to see)Not exactly. The brain is a wonderful machine that can modify itself to deal with new stimuli. People have already successfully given themselves mechanical sixth senses by hijacking other senses. The brain learns to interpret the meaning automatically. That's pretty cool, although I'd imagine it's like the MMA fighter with no arms. A novalty that get's hammered when he tries against a skilled player. From the sound of it, he was an expert player, but regardless, I'd get pummeled at these games by an expert player, eyesight or not. The goal of gaming for most people is not to become the best play in the world, but to have fun.

But there was a guy in a documentry. Basicly this life long blind man was 'cured'. He got his sight back, but couldn't see. To him, it was a confusing mess. He could look at a chair, but not realise it's a chair. He had to learn to see by building up a memory of what stuff looked like. It wasn't a simple case of telling him "that's a chair" as he had to work out other factors too.
