Krystal, IN STARWOLF!?

"Just give me a few minutes." Wolf mumbed back as he started to search trough the drawers of the work desk which had previously belonged to Andross.

It was mostly filled with tons of papers, both single and tacked together. Luckily for him, Andross had been quite the organized fellow, and had marked all the various projects. Problem was, most of the titles was code names. So he had to take a quick look trough the first parts anyway to get an idea on what they were for.

He found plans for new weapons systems, the scematics for the original Wolfen prototype, countless projects that had been several years ahead of their time. Andross had been a mental, but one couldn't deny he had also been a genious. The line between those two were quite thin after all.

But, when he had finished looking trough all the drawers, his search for Andross biggest secret had turned out fruitless. He dumped down into the office chair behind the desk, obviously frustrated.

It had been stupid of him to assume Andross would keep things of such importance here. He had been clinging on to false hopes the entire time.

Wolf looked up at his teammates, which were looking curiously at him, waiting for him to tell them the mission had been a success. That the secret had been uncovered, and they would go back to Sargasso and put it to good use.

He could not bear the tought of having to disapoint them like this. Of all the people in the room, only Freya seemed to have realised the situation. She walked slowly up to her fathers side and rested a small hand on his shoulder. As if to tell him she knew how it feelt to disapoint someone.

The silence was then suddenly breaked by Freya. "What is that?" She said, pointing to a what seemed like  the flat surface of one of the sides of the workdesk. She quickly bent down, and let the claw of her index finger float around in a small square right above the woodwork. First then saw Wolf what she had been talking about.

Perfectly integrated into the desk was a tiny button. Almost impossible to spot for someone which didn't know of it.

Wolf bent foreward, let his hand glide over the square, and pushed it in.

With a grinding sound, another drawer slowly opened along the edge of the work desk, revealing a thick book laying inside.

Wolf carefully picked it up, and placed it on the desk in fron of him. The darkly red leather on the outside was free of any symbol which could tell him what it was. With awe, Wolf slowly opened it to the first page, and started to read the text written into it with scrolled letters.

His mouth feelt dry with sandpaper as he lifted his head and spoke to the others in the room. "This is it. This is Androsses personal notes and diary."

"Good can we get out of here now I have the strangest feeling something is nearbye."Krstal muttered

"Well done, Wolf." Panther said.  He happened to see a small, thin file folder, with what looked like a Krazoa face drawn on the front of it.  He drew it from the desk, but only saw the file was about the Krazoa themselves.  He put it down.

He found a file folder with this on the front:

"Hmmm..." he opened the file folder.

Wolf started to turn trough the pages, skimming trough the first words on each page. After a few seconds, he found the references he was looking for. This book did indeed contain the secrets they were looking for.

Satisfied, Wolf closed the book and put it into his rucksack. It was time to leave this place, something he knew they were all looking foreward to.

"Okay, let's get out of here." Wolf said as he passed by the others and picked up his gun again. But he stopped dead in his tracks as he noticed what was appearing out of the shadows in front of them.

About a dozen figures walked slowly towards them in utter silence, their identity concealed by the darkness and the smoke still hanging in the air.

[Kursed]

"Dangit it's a  Collective hive mind!" Krystal shouted reading her  blaster.

"Oh, shit!" Panther said, as he quickly stuffed the Andross face folder and the Krazoa folder into his backpack.  He then strapped on his backpack, grabbed his rifle, and protectively shielded Freya as best he could.  "Come child......stay with me, this now a 'time to go' situation..."

Freya gasped in fear as the largest of the figures stepped out from the shadows and into the light. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before, a beast standing well over 7 feet tall, the massive head placed straight onto broad shoulders, the lifeless, black eyes, a jaw so wide it looked like it could swallow her whole, filled with razor sharp teeth. Gills along the short, thick neck and fins sproting out of his back. A long tail sweeping over the floor.

It was as if the monster shark from the "Jaws" movies had been given limbs and the ability to follow her onto dry land.

It was unbelivable that such a monstrosity could display anything but brutal savagery, but her toughts were put to shame as it pointed at them with a huge finger and roared with a voice as cold and deep as the bottom of the ocean.

"You do not belong here surface dwellers. This is our domain. This is the realm of the Anglar empire!"

[Kursed]

"Course of action ,Wolf?" Krystal asked searching the large creatures for a weak point with her powers.

Panther held his hyper laser assault rifle high, as he stood between the Anglars and Freya. 

"F*** you, bottom feeders!" he growled at the Anglars.

[Showtime 1-1]

Leon sneered at the aggressors, looking down his blaster's sight. They were outnumbered and cornered, but the team had made it out of tighter spots then this before. But... how?

The other figures also started to move into view, revealing themself to be horrific hybrids of sea creatures and people like them. They were all unarmed, and the only kind of gear they had were loincloths woven out of seaweed.

But despite their lack of guns, Wolf wasn't taking them lightly. The giant shark looked like he could break the back of a fully grown man like a twig, and all the other... Anglars were also seemingly well trained.

"We mean no harm to you or your empire." Wolf broke the silence. "We found what we came for, and we're going to leave now, never to bother you again."

The shark smiled at this, a gruesome smile that showed a wall of deadly teeth. "You're not going anywhere surface dwellers. No one will know of the Anglar empire and its unmesurable might before it is to late. Get them!"

The creatures charged at them. In the same time as it had taken Wolf to shot two of them in the chest, seemingly to no effect, they were over them and locked into close combat.

Krystal saw how wolf's  blaster had had no effect and quickly switch her blaster out for her staff , firing the freezing mist at the odd creatures

One of the creatures, an octopus, fell to Krystals ice blast, shattering into fragments as it hit the ground.

Another one, a pirhana, jumped over him and onto Krystal. It gripped hold of the staff, keeping her from using it as its vicious jaws snapped shut close to her face.

Wolf was locked into a wrestling contest with another octopus. It started to sneak some of its long arms around Wolfs neck as they struggled, but immediatly retracted them as Wolf bit into one of them with his jaws. He freed himself of his opponents grip and a kick to the face increased the distance between them.

His rucksack was hindering his movements, and he quickly took it off and slung it backwards to Freya.

"The tome!" The large shark growled to the other creatures as he pointed towards Freya. "The emperor craves the tome of eternal life!" The creatures attack increased in strenght as they threw themself at Starwolf in a mad frenzy.

The shark leader started to walk towards them as well, towering far above anyone else in the room.

Leon was sparring with another of the Anglars. Even though it was one of the smaller ones, it outsized him almost 2 to 1. He was sure to stay out of it's grasp and attack quickly. He delivered a kick to it's face, and it staggered off balance, long enough for Leon to finish it with a swing of his blaster to the side of it's head.

He looked up. The big shark seemed interested in Wolf's rucksack, which Freya had now picked up.

"PANTHER! Keep Freya and the backpack safe! Aim for the nose or the gills!" he yelled as he ran over to help hold the attackers back.

"We don't have to beat them, we just have to outrun them," he grunted, firing on another approaching piranha.

Panther took a deep breath, screwed up his courage, and took aim at the enemies, firing like mad. "YAAAHHHHH!" he shot the piranha off of Krystal.  He then swung his rifle towards the octopus on top of Wolf, and shot it's big fat bulbous head to pulp.  He kept Freya protectively behind him, away from the Anglars.

Panther nodded, grateful for Leon's advice, and happy at the fact that for once Leon wasn't insulting him.  But he also knew Leon was partially wrong about shooting the Anglar sharks.  If you ever want to take out a shark, you aim for its eyes and gills, not the nose.  He remembered this from his former Lifeguard days on the Zoness and Cornerian beaches.

He aimed for the gills on the Anglar shark, and fired.

Panthers shot blasted straight trough the thick neck of the shark, but the behemoth didn't stop. Like a tank, he shoved away his allies and swang his left arm towards Wolf and the octopus with the force of a battering ram, sending them both flying trough the cave before they hit the wall with a loud thump. Wolf slowly rolled down and onto his back, unconcious.

The beast ignored the desperate gunshots from Leon as he grabbed Panther by the troath, throwing him aside like a toy before he towerd up above Freya.

The young shewolf unsheated her knife and struck it againt the chest of the giant, only for it to slide harmlessly of its tough, sandpaper-like skin. She refused to back down as the shark grabbed hold of her, disarmed her and started to carry her with it, together with the backpack.

"Take out their lights! The surface dwellers weak eyes can't see in the darkness." He roared to his minions as he ran past them, holding the still fighting daughter of Wolf over his shoulder. The nine remaining creatures attacked again, clawing at their opponents headlights.

Wolf was strugling to remain concious, the cave svam around in front of his eyes, a maze of sound, and weird shapes. His senses sharpened back to normal as soon as he saw his daughter be carried away by the beast. As much as he tried, his body still refused to get up, and he could only watch in horror as the shark dissapeared into the darkness of one of the tunnels. A last scream from Freya echoed torugh the cave. "Dad!!!"

"NOOOOOO!" Panther grabbed Freya's knife, and slashed at the Anglars, as they tried to block his path.  He tapped the side of his headlamp, and if flickered back on.  He found his rifle, grabbed it before the Anglars could get it, put Freya's knife in his teeth, and pursued the Anglar shark down the tunnel.

I can't let this happen!  Not to Freya! he thought desperately.

[Kursed]

Krystal jumped to her feet trying to quickly find a way to remedy the current situation "Wolf I'm going after them!"She shouted running after panther  closing her eyes and trusting her senses to guide her.

[Showtime 1-1]

Leon saw Wolf knocked into the corner, then watched as Panther and Krystal went after Freya.

Damn! we've been split up!

He kept up his blaster fire as he backed towards the corner Wolf was in. It didn't do any damage, but at least it slowed them down.

After he heard the shark's comment about the lights, he had an idea. As he reached the wall that Wolf was against, he pulled the remaining plastic explosive out and hastily stuck a detonator in it. He tossed the lump to the feet of the approaching Anglars, turned his back and detonated the charge.

*KA-BOOOM*

The explosion was so close that it tore his backpack to shreds and threw him into the wall. He had hoped that the flash would temporarily blind the Anglars, but when he turned around, he saw that it had done much more then that. The attackers were scattered about the room, disoriented if not knocked out.

oops, a little too much "boom"... oh well.

He went over to help his leader up. Wolf's mechanical eye didn't look operational, and his other pupil was dilated.

"Wolf? Can you hear me? Can you get up?"

The explosion had disoriented Wolf even further. He could hear no sound as he saw Leon appear in front of him, clearly speaking to him. But no sound could be heard, only the faint tapping of his heart and the wheezing of his lungs.

Slowly, things started to come back into focus. He could now hear Leon shout to him, telling him to get up.

Wolf started to rise up, helped by Leon. "Freya." He said before coughing up a a mixture of spit and blood. "Where is my daughter?"

Meanwhile, the Anglar which had kidnapped Freya was running trough the tunnels. For someone his size, they were terribly cramped, but he still managed to keep up an impressive speed. Tough he lacked ears, the sensitive spots on his lower jaws caught the sound vibrations that told him the cat was following after him.

While he would have preferred to stand and face him, and gouge on his flesh, his orders were strict. His primitive lungs were also starting to feel dry, and he needed to get back to the water as soon as possible, and let his gills take over the job again.

He rounded a corner and stopped in front of the flooded tunnel leading further down. He grabbed hold of the oxygen mask he had hidden here in case of a situation like this, and with some struggle, put it over the face of the still struggling wolf.

He threw a look over his shoulder, seeing the cat come around the corner after him, madness and fear shining in his eyes. The Anglar gave him another gruesome smile before he turned around and jumped out into the water, dissapearing under the black surface.

Krystal Skidded to  Stop besides panther just before the shark dove into the water.... "Panther I  really don't like you ,but we're part of a team and therefore we'll have to..."She paused for a minute gagging at the thought. "work together Did you pack those mask I told you to?"

Panther spat out the knife from his mouth, onto the floor.

"NOOOOO!  !@#$%^&**&A!@#?*^<@!~"

Panther kicked the tunnel wall.  "I blew it...it's all my fault!  GODDAMIT!"

Krystal Skidded to  Stop besides panther just before the shark dove into the water.... "Panther I  really don't like you ,but we're part of a team and therefore we'll have to..."She paused for a minute gagging at the thought. "work together Did you pack those mask I told you to?"

Panther turned to Krystal, and said

"I hate you too....and technically, I'm off the damn team...but, here!" he went through the back, and held up the mask.  He too a spare knife sheath/holster from his backpack, strapped it to his thigh, and placed Freya's knife into it.  I'll save you somehow, Freya....even if it kills me he thought, feeling the knife hilt.

"Dammit, Wolf! WAKE UP!"

Leon was doing everything in his power, short of physically shaking the canine, to wake him up. He had patched the wounds as best he could with the small medkit he had. Fortunately, nothing was broken, but a concussion seemed likely. They weren't doing any good sitting here, though, and some of the Anglars were beginning to stir. Leon knew one last trick that was likely to wake Wolf up, or at least get him mobile so they could regroup.

"Wolf, it's Star Fox! They've taken Freya!" he yelled.

Leon dived in under Wolfs armpit and slowly lifted his blood brother onto his feet. Wolf was slowly regaining full conciousness, even if he was still shivering slighty. "Freya." He mumbled as he took a step foreward, then another one, and another.

He bend down and picked up the rifle he had dropped as the shark had slung him into the wall, and they promptly set off into the tunnels after Panther and Krystal. While he knew it would have been the best tactical move to ensure the shell-shocked Anglars was disposed off properly, there was no time if he were to save his daughter.

His mechanical eye flickered on again. It had obviously taken a beating during the fight, but was still holding together enough for him to see trough the darkness.

Krystal strapped the oxygen mask to her mouth, she set a marker light down to tell Wolf where they had been before she dove into the water staff in hand 'No time to mourn Panther get your black furry buttox moving before we lose her for good. She thought to panther. Using her telepathic senses  she could sense everything under the water...cept the rock formation she managed to bump into... zeroing in on Freya's Aura she managed to locate the large brute that had her she swam towards Freya hopeing they wouldn't move.
