If games were illegal?

If games were illegal, what would it take to get you to stop?

I came up with this idea quite some time ago where a shady back ally had a sort of game LAN cafe.

For me, not even the threat of the death penalty would get me to stop. I would just have to be extra sneaky about it. It would have to be an iminant threat like a swat team pulling up outside to get me to power down my games.

I'm not a really hardcore gamer, but never if I'd let someone else tell me what I can't do. For that reason, I'd keep going like I've always done, no matter what the politicians think about it.

If I was a police officer, I would die out of boredom.

But since I am not, nobody can prevent me from playing games in the... 'safety' of my home.

I'd stop playing, so that I would have time to organize various marches on the capital and build up funds to afford a lobbyist. I suppose if politics-as-usual could somehow get game banned, it would take people playing the politician's own twisted game to get them to stop.

GOOD idea!... Why I never though about that?

Now, seriously, I think the world would go MAD. Lots of companies will be shutdown, because they solely make computer games. The Graphic/Video Cards development would either come to a halt or slow down A LOT, because one of the main reasons as to why graphic cards are getting better and better are the newer games...

And on personall though, my life will be a lot more boring...  :(

I'd run a national string of underground gaming dens, to finance my rebel militia group, and we'd storm the capital, declaring a revolution against the totalitarian fascist pigs in our [world] government that dared to suppress our right to play those games (Pursuit of Happiness in the U.S. Constitution).

Viva La Revoluci`on!

There probably is. I think they would be like parents who want to "protect" their children from such things like violence and staring at the tv screen for a long time.

What I would do if video games were illegal would be to inform the government (with the help of many other citizens who want to play) that they should unban them. I would get everyone to sign a document to show that a LOT of people want to play it.

Gaming speakeasys, front room for E-T rating, back room for M-AO rating. (Aren't there like only two games with an AO rating?)

I honestly don't think it would be possible to get games banned, just like everything else, it's an industry. Make games illegal, kills the industry, stops the cashflow, hurts the economy even more. There's too much money involved, not only would the decision be stupid, it would be downright bad financially.

That hasn't stopped them trying to ban smoking.

All the political methods wouldn't work I think. For example, Manhunt 2, Thrill Kill, Nazis, Anything in germany and austrailia.

Smoking is harmfull to not only the user ,but also to the people around the smoker Video games are only harmful to the user if the user so chooses to be stupid and think the game is real life or something.

Can you list the  harmful effects of Smoking compared to the harmful effects of  Video gaming?
