I don't really hate her, as much as her effect on the series. XD She is Base Breaker, The Scrappy, Spotlight Stealing Squad and The Artifact.  And being Ms Fanservice all the while with a Most Common Superpower doesn't really help endear her either.  This is a very old fandom issue - just get used to it. X3

Except Krystal did nothing to the series directly, not even cause Peppy to retire, as he was retired at the start of SFA before Fox even knew who Krystal was. If anything she's untapped potential as a character.

It is far more complicated than that.  And I didn't particularly want Fox to end up with anyone before Krystal was introduced.  But when she was, I was like, "Hell no".

To be honest, in some of my early fanfic ideas in the 1990s, I had Fox dying, and James coming out of his interdimensional exile to lead Star Fox again. X3

Peppy wasn't replaced by Krystal. He was already retired from fighter-piloting at the start of SFA.

But Papetoon's first canonical mention I know of was in the Japanese instruction manual of Star Fox 64.  Fox was born there.

Only Krystal has everything she needs to be respectable, it's just nothing has been done with it yet because StarFox is not a plot heavy game, as opposed to comic books which are nothing BUT a story. Fara has had an "unfair" advantage to being developed.

I hope to all that is holy, unholy, and in between you aren't saying Krystal's character was perfect in Command. It went against everything in the earlier games, instead of "Being of a kind nature," she was stoic and sometimes outright aggressive. Some others have gone so far as to use the wording, "Raging bitch." Though I wouldn't say that (Mostly because I don't want to say that about Krystal).
