Guest Para Astaroth
Well, given that our new ASUS computer can run games pretty damn smoothly on here, I'm wondering which game(s) should I get for my PC. I already have Halo 1 and F.E.A.R., but they got boring after awhile.Any suggestions, guys and gals? :?

CrypticQuery
Garry's Mod is standalone and it has nothing to do with HL2.Really? I always thought that Garry's Mod needed a source game to base itself on, like Counter Strike or Half Life O_o

Sabre
Look, sorry for the offence but you guys don't seem like PC gamers, so. *cracks knucklesFirst off, the 2 genres PC does really well is FPS and RTS. Usually PC version are better then console versions. Crysis isn't that great, but if you want to check the mucle of your machine, go for it.On the RTS side, I'd recomend supreme commander 2, but get the demo off steam because it's a devicive game. I'm told that the total war series is good but it never took my fancy. If you want historical war, go there. Most FPSs come out on colsoles as well as PC these days. Definatly where you should go for future FPSs. Getting at least one source game is advised because it opens the door to great mods for it. I dont like Gmod, but Dystopia and Neotokyo are good if you want MP shinanigans.Other stuff, again, steam is your friend. There is some great indie stuff there, one of which is torchlight, again, try the demo. Its the only top down clicky RPG I like. Then there's the dumb stuff. I currently love Alien Shooter and Shadowgrounds. Got them dirt cheap on the steam sales. Also there is the fantastic game by the DIPRIP people called Zombie Driver. £8 well spent. The text version of a video review I'm going to do, not proof read.3 Zombie DriverZombie Driver is an indie game on steam made by the same guys who made the Half Life 2 mod DIPRIP. It's a top down driving game where you have to run over zombies and ferry the survivors to the safty of the army base, and that's it. Think GTA crossed with Carmageddon and bit of Crazy Taxi. That sounds a bit lazy though. So instead I like to compair it more to Defence Grid, or even Portal. Both take a simple idea and polish the hell out of it. Everything from the driving controls to the camera, the gore, all great. Even the story which is your typical zombie storyline has a little twist at the end that doesn't blow your socks, but made me smile. The game also has an upgrade system that allows you to trick out your cars with various upgrades such as better weapons, speed and armour. The missions involve rescueing survivors by driving to their houses, mashing up the zombies at the door and getting back to base without dying all while completing various optional objectives. At this point everyone asks "how the hell do zombies kill you when your in a car?" Well, this is one of the smarter points of the game. Hitting a zombie slows you down a tiny bit. Fine when hitting stragglers, but plough into a large horde and you will slow down enough for them to start ripping bits off. There are also special zombies like tanks, boomers ect to contend with as well. Different cars have different levels of speed, armour, mash-ability and passanger load. My favourite was the bus. Not to fast, but squishes zombies like... well, a bus. There a couple of minor niggles in the game. The lack of a minimap can be a little annoying at times, and the game is very easy, something I put down to using a Xbox pad instead of the keyboard. The game is also quite short, but those minor issues don't ruin the overall experience. It's also quite cheap at £8 meaning that, as Bruce Forsyth said, the price is right. If you can overlook the short, easy nature of the game. It's alot of fun. There's a demo on steam to try if your interested. It might not be high art or thought provoking (unless you count 'squish' as thought) but it is fun.Trailerhttp://store.steampowered.com/app/5498/There is some old stuff worth looking at too. Startopia and evil genius being good places to start. Both managment games where you run a space station and a bond villains lair. There are loads of games out there on PC, these are just my current pics, I'll get some friends togather, see what they recommend.TL:DRSupreme Commander 2TorchlightZombie DriverEditFriend recommendationsRUSE Beta (free for a week atm on steam. MP. Quite good Imo.)Bad Company
Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted April 6, 2010 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted April 6, 2010 If you can find a copy of Return To Castle Wolfenstein from 2003ish, You should pick it up. The single player is pretty good, but Multiplayer is where it's at. Beats the crap outta the new Wolfenstein.
ThePointingMan
Play Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and wait for Crysis 2 to be released.Or get CRYSIS MAXIMUM! AKA a deal with both Crysis and Crysis war-hammer.So first get team fortress 2 and Crysis. I'd advise portal and Garry's mod also.I just bought some computer parts and am waiting for em to be shipped and processed ect, as soon as it comes in I am buying the games below, Mebbe you'll wanna get some of em too.1)Crysis2)Command and conquer: red alert 33)Just cause (and no that's not short for because)4)Mass effects 1 and 2 careful with those ones, they are very picky on what systems they will work on, mebbe get em on x-box or ps3 if you get those ones, yo never know if it wont work, at it is generally buggyer..5)Mebbe dragon age origins, dunno much about that one.6)fallout 3I recommend all of the above.Got a long list of games I've been wanting to play, but not had the requirements.
