I think this has become one of my favorite songs of all times. It's there with Sky High from Daytona USA 1

The last two or so months has seen me near-obsessed with Judas Priest.

I've never been into metal music in the past, as much as I've tried, but I finally found a band that I could get into.

'Defenders of the Faith' is easily my favourite album, followed by 'Stained Class' and 'Screaming for Vengeance'.

I don't know you but I already love you. Huge Priest fan here!

Defenders is my favourite too, Painkiller being a close second and Stained Class a close third. I'd put Screaming fo Vengeance in number 5, after British Steel.

I cant say I agree with all of his comments, but it:s certainly an inciteful watch.

While Justice's album, Woman, has some good songs, this one seems to be a sort of forgotten gem.

The guy has some valid point but the constant swearing and constant "screaming" thing kinda gets on my nerve. But the video is quite good to cover the whole Priest studio career though.

It reminded me how much I love that scream on Halls of Valhalla too.
I've seen them twice (2011 for the Epitaph tour, 2015 for the Redeemer of Souls tour), and I can't recommend you enough to go see them live if you have the chance.

Now a similar series with Muscle-Cars would be made of awesomeness.

I'd love to see them live!

However, unless they're in Japan... unlikely.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure they often tour in Japan.
If I remember correctly, they always play there during their tours. A quick look at setlist.fm confirms that fact ;)
They're currently writing a new album, if I had to guess I'd say they'll probably tour all around the world somewhere between 2018 and 2020.

I guess they are pretty "big" in Japan (as is a lot of old rock/hard rock/metal bands). After all, they did release two live recordings of Japanese shows: Unleashed in the East in 79 and Rising in the East in 2005 (even if this one is far from being their best).

Not sure how big. I don't see anyone jamming to them here.

People always seem to assume a music artist is 'big in Japan' whenever they tour here, when usually they're not. IDK, the Japanese just like going to concerts, whatever it is, I guess.

In any case, I'll keep an eye out.

I too read they were working on another album. I honestly wish they'd try to be a little less metal than before. Go back to their roots. Especially as the lead vocalist is getting on a bit.

My guess about how "big" they are was just because I know rock bands were pretty popular in Japan in the 70's/80's, but I don't really know much about it ^^

For the newest album, I just wish they play something they want to play, and not just revisit for the third time in 15 years their whole career (Angel of Retribution was pretty good and made sense with the return of Rob Halford, but Redeemer of Souls often felt flat compared to the rest of their discography)
Halford is getting older and sure doesn't perform those high screams as well as in the past. But he developped a strong mid-voice, I think they should work in that direction, something they started to do with Nostradamus. I'm more worried about Glenn Tipton, the older half of the guitarist, as he tends to have trouble playing the most complicated solo nowadays... (He's butchering Painkiller for instance)

I haven't finished watching the series yet (hell, the opening is still Cha-la Head Cha-la so far) but god damn it, this theme is simply awesome.
Want some motivation? Loop that song over and over again till your job is done!

At the moment some Kavinsky.

Whenever any Synthwave comes on the playlist while I'm driving down the highway at night, my cheap mid-trim Corolla transforms into my very own Lamborghini Countach.

I don't know why this song is so addictive, and I also don't know how Peter Gabriel matched the nonsensical lyrics to his intended interpretation of them, but the tune sure is catchy.

My understanding is their long-term guitarist left the band at least partly because the group were basically in it for the money now, hence why their newer stuff sounds like a re-tread.

Age is definitely a factor. But I reckon they feel that, because they've been so hardcore in the past, they're expected to continue being hardcore, as opposed to doing more restrained material ala Stained Class, something more accommodating to their age and current ability.

If I remember correctly, KK Downing mentionned the fact that he didn't want to just play the same songs over and over again, after 40 years. Which makes sense but is also an issue when you have a long and successful career with a lot of classic songs.
Problem is the same with all big bands though: write songs in a different style and a lot of people are angry you don't sound like their favourite album, write songs in the same style as before and people complain you ain't innovating.

And I guess KK just wanted to relax and play golf too, and you don't have much time to do that when you're touring the world.
(But Glenn Tipton has been a part of the band almost since the very beginning too, so there was two long-term guitarists really)

By the way, Stained Class wasn't really "restrained material" back in the day it was released! Don't forget you got Exciter as the opener.
But I'd like to see Priest try something a bit different. It is time to let Painkiller go away and do something with Halford's mid-voice instead of exposing his now-weaker high range.
