Hoyt Curtin trolls the Hanna-Barbara band's trombone section:

Finding just the song on YouTube without the SFX is tough. I have a SFX-less recording I got here: http://www.classicjq...a/JQMedia.shtml

These guys are pro Jazz musicians. If you listen carefully, you'll notice that they flub the main part of the theme. This is because Hoyt wrote fast 16th notes in a place where the Trombones have to go from like 6th or 7th position back to like 1st or 2nd position. Damn-near impossible at tempo. BTW, it wasn't a case of him not knowing. He did it on purpose to troll them because they were bitching about how easy his trombone parts were for other scores.

BTW, Hoyt Curtin deserve more credit and exposure. Sure, he was no Duke Ellington, but his command of the brass section is excellent. My favorite works of his are Johnny Quest and The Jetsons. Sadly, the original SFX-Free recordings of The Jetsons were lost. When Rhino Music put together a collection of this work (the "Pic-a-nic Basket of Cartoon Classics"), they couldn't find it and many others.

I really wish someone would faithfully re-record these. Many of his works were re-recorded, but were also re-arranged out of their original form. Though I think the JQ theme would need to be transposed into another key for the trombone section's sake. Or they could cheat and use valve trombones, but that would compromise the sliding notes. Why not the Superbone? This piece seems made for it! lol

Music today is too much about words. Why do you think Justin Beiber is successful? Certainly not for musical talent.

To truly appreciate music, you need to listen beyond the words. Chord Structure. Key signature changes. Time Signature. Style. Rhythmic pattern. When you listen that deeply, you find it hard to listen to today's pop and hip-hop, and even a lot of rock and electronica. Those genres can hide their lack of musical breadth and depth behind words. Instrumental Jazz and Orchestral music can't. Though some electronic genres have no words and have just as little musical value, yet people still listen to it. I don't know why. I must say that's they music I can stand the least. I guess it's all about beat or something. Sad, because beat is but one facet of music.

Simply sublime. My favorite of the planet sounds. If you ever get a chance, listen to Saturn. It's hilarious; sounds like a NASCAR race.

I like to listen to many different kinds of songs/music:

Happy Musics, like the main themes of Mario Karts DS, Wii, and 7

Inspirational musics, like the main themes of the Megaman Star Force games

Inspirational songs, like Wings of the Heart

Sonic songs, like With Me

I also love to listen to Michael Jackson songs, like these:

Earth Song

Man in the mirror

Beat It

Bad

Billie Jean

Dangerous

Black or White

Thriller

The Way you make me feel

I just can't stop loving you

Heal the World

They don't care about Us

And of course, some of the newer songs like 'Lazy Song', 'Price Tag', 'Fresh like Dougie', 'Party Rock Anthem'

Right now, though, I'm jamming to the song, 'With Me'
