Mario Kart DS Emblems

I'm sure you've all picked up your copy of Mario Kart DS by now. I got mine yesterday and was all ready to go online when... it asked me to make an emblem. Sweet! So, I got to pixel-arting. Unfortunately, there are few colors. There's only one shade of grey and not nearly enough blues. I thought Krystal would be perfect, so after several versions, here's what it looks like (with fairly accurate color key):

Then I thought I'd try modifying KLA's icon for the limited colors. I think it worked out beautifully, much better than mine:

If not, could you please do the same thing with the Red Fox emblem, the main Starfox insignia?

In Mario Kart DS, you can only have one emblem. What is that game you are refering to? I don't recognize the abbreviation.

WWE DOR. And that Tatto is exactly what I wanted!

But I'm in a predicament. The square amount on DOR is 62x62 from left to right, and top to bottom, and it looks like the total amount on Mario Kart DS is 31x31... ack... and I get to use as many insiginas as I want, the Krystal one, the Red Fox, and Krystal's thigh tatto all on the same person! (what I'm going to do, with my own version of her thigh tatto)

(and yes, I've tried to make Krystal but it's very hard, facial features are limited)

Mario Kart DS has a logo size of 32 by 32. If you want, I can recreate the technique I used to make the tatoo and the Starfox emblem for 62 by 62.

About every color there is, you just have to edit over your custom colors to make them. So that means, EVERY blue and EVERY other color.

And yes, please do the 62x62!

Do what? This is all possible with minimal Photoshop skills. Krystal was made simply by resizing an image of Krystal. Same basically with an image of the fox emblem, although outlining was required, then refilling with a pure color. The tattoo was the hardest to generate. I don't know a good way to do a swirl like that, however, I made these by taking a solid white line facing up and down, cutting it so it will fit inside a set circle size, then deleting the bottom half. Then I apply a "Twist" filter on the line within the circle selection. A little cleaning up, and adding simple triangles finishs the tattoo.

I will, the different color variations in those pictures are scrambling my brain. Creating colors on WWE is very hard, because if I get one percent off of a color or in it's darkness or lightness, it messes it up.... the different blues on Krystal is especially getting a little annoying.

all these emblems could also work on F-Zero GX. You could paste these on custom made F-Zero machines!

I made an SF emblem myself from a ripped SF64 texture.

I guarantee you that that pic of Krystal won't work in MKDS. The color palatte is severely limited. Also, MKDS emblems are 32x32.

This site can take an image and make a mock-up MKDS emblem out of it. It is far from perfect (You're better off making it in a graphics program), but it will give you an idea of what the image will loog like in MKDS.

Unfortueately, to my knowledge, there is no way to directly import them, meaning that you must enter it into your DS pixel by pixel.

Those last three emblems are for a Wrestling game that ESF has. I know they won't work on Mario Kart DS. Cool site though! What's your friend code? We'll race or something.

As for Dashster's post, I'll look into F-Zero GX's emblem editor again.

Good job Dashster. I too am working on an F-Zero emblem, but it will take a couple weeks doing it color by color, pixel by pixel.
