Mr. Foxer
What do you mean? Unless the thread title says "Gay fanart" we most likely don't expect to see something homophobic. Oh well, browse the art section at your own risk I guess yeah?
Vy'drach
While it seems a solution has been come to, I still feel the need to post since I was undoubtedly a large catalyst for this discussion. As I said to Dermot between a few posts, it wasn't the guys making out that bothered me, but the Star Fox characters making out. And while the fact it was two guys made it just a slightly bit more uncomfortable, that was due to the scientific phenomenon of "guy = attractive" not being able to "click" in my head. I understand it on paper, but it doesn't really apply for me and how I view things since I don't find guys attractive, and it is not within me to find them so. Not saying there's anything wrong or inferior about it, just that I can't fully comprehend it, which makes the images slightly surreal since it's something I can't fully understand on every level. And this is usually why straight guys find two girls attractive, because "girl = attractive" is something I, and I'm sure most straight guys, fully understand. I tend to not like two girls together however, because I dislike looking at two people making out period, whatever gender combination you throw in, I don't like seeing them make out, especially Star Fox characters making out (and that is where the issue arose with me). And, in fact, I would have been even more bothered if it was a guy/girl or girl/girl pairing, since that is something I understand very well, complete with all the implications that go with it (though the girl/girl would be worse since I understand both sides of that attraction, where as guy/girl, I only understand the attraction to the girl, no idea why straight girls find guys attractive, I just understand that it seems to be the case).Anyway, all I was asking of Dermot was to post images of making out as links instead of embeds in the future, and said that it seemed as though everyone already did that, because I do not recall ever seeing an image like that embedded on this site before (not counting what's in the archives, as that seems to be before DZ got here to whip this place into shape). And that of course applies with anyone, however, please don't embed images of Star Fox characters making out, or even more preferable, any making out by anyone.I wasn't trying to be against Dermot because he was gay, as I told him, I really don't care about that, it means nothing to me one way or the other. He has several interesting posts and some good fanart stored up. All I wanted was images of making out to be links rather than embeds. And as it seems to be in the works of becoming a rule for that, I am pleased since I never found it really appropriate for open viewing, and I doubt I am the only one that feels that way.Seriously guys, let's all take DZ's advice. If you don't want to see it, don't look at it! Don't make comments about it, don't PM thousands of people about it, etc. Just leave it alone, and the balance to SF-O will be restored. GET OVER IT PEOPLE!! And Crazyfoo, you happened to write that as I was typing this, the thing about it is that you really couldn't "simply not look at it." One, the images tended to be so large that they were as subtle as a bat to the face, and two, by time you realized it was something you didn't want to see, it was too late. CrypticQuery
@Mr. Foxer and Vydrach: Oooooh, whoopsie, I thought we were talking about embedded links. But what is so wrong with it? Out of all of the people in the world, someone is going to find something wrong with something everyone else finds fine. What do yo do then? Ban it because of that one/couple of people? It's just not right. If we just accepted the fact that we are all different yet all the same, we could make some progress. Some people aren't going to like this style of art, some may like it, and some may not like it, BUT ACCEPT THAT OTHERS DO! If we don't work together and understand each other, this community will fall apart. AND THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!!!!! IT'S THE ONLY PLACE WHERE I CAN HAVE A GOOD TIME IN MY LIFE!!!! :D
Vy'drach
I'm not denying the right for people to like it, just saying that I have the right not to like it or see it when I don't want to. I dislike seeing people make out in public, I definitely hate it in movies, and so why should the internet be any different? That's why I wanted it linked, people that want to see it can see it (win), and people that don't want to see it don't have to (win). That's a "win-win" situation, something that most people strive to achieve.
Guest Julius Quasar
I agree completely, but what I do not understand is how asking people to link images that have significant shows of affection (gay or straight) is a sacrifice of basic equality. We're talking about this:VS This:It is not post vs don't post. We're not banning anything. It is post in a way that allows people to choose whether or not they want to see it, and it is doing it in a way that applies to everything. I really don't see how this is different than many furry art sites out there that use tag systems to allow people to filter what they want or don't want to see.^ That's close to what I've been trying to say.Anyway, all I was asking of Dermot was to post images of making out as links instead of embeds in the future, and said that it seemed as though everyone already did that, because I do not recall ever seeing an image like that embedded on this site before (not counting what's in the archives, as that seems to be before DZ got here to whip this place into shape). Steve
I'm going to lock this topic for now, until DZ decides to make an announcement. It's beginning to be redundant, and all I see is "GOOD JOB, I AGREE, KEEP THE GOOD WORK, WOOHOO" which really, doesn't help in this serious topic. Most of the population here agrees that nothing drastic should be made, and we are going to compromise for DZ's AND Mr Krystal's sake. They worked so hard to bring this great site on, so the least you can do is respect their final decision, and seriously, deal with it,

DZComposer
Yes, save for a couple of people, the idea of requiring art showing significant affection be linked seems to be an accepted compromise. While I know that not every single person is happy with this idea, it is really the only viable option I have. It's either this, ban gay art, or don't change anything. Banning gay art is stupid and unfair, and not changing anything will most certainly lead to the continuation of the drama.I don't like doing this, but it is the only way that was presented that has a chance of working. I've spent way too much time and money on this community to watch it get ripped apart over something as trivial as fanart. So, I think I will go ahead and mark this as a pending rule change. I need to finalize the wording, so nothing has changed yet.THE CONTENT ALLOWED IS NOT CHANGING. If it was OK before, it is OK now. Just now, if it is a significant affection image, it must be linked instead of posted in-line.NOTE THIS: If someone posts something linked that you don't like, don't complain to me or any of the other staff members if you click on it. If you don't like it, don't click.
