Hi,

In the English episodes of the show, she told Rika's mom that they are genderless, but that was a translation error, in the original manga, the line was that Digimon do not have biology, as in the ability to reproduce, and not that they do not have genders.

In the German version, which was actually much more like the Japanese one, they made the same translation mistake. And they showed Renamon as a male Digimon. He/she/it was dubbed by a guy and nobody knows why. It was rather strange, when Renamon merged with Rika to a more female like humanoid Digimon.

I liked the Digimon TV series much better, too, but the better games came from the Pokemon franchise.

A sixth season has been confirmed some time ago and will start in Japan in July. Hopefully this season will be better than number 5, which was really bad.

Thats not even a contest right there... the only possible chance of a pokemon winning is if it was a legendary which are extreemly overpowerd.
