The theory of general relativity applies to culture too. :3 If you're a foreigner, it will be weird.  If you are a native, it is normal.  I think it's been a lot easier for me to immerse in Japanese culture than in American culture.  So I have very little trouble believing some of the things I learn. :3

Well... I am from South America,

so I do find some traits of North

Amercian culture 'weird', and in the same

vein, they find some traits of our culture

to be 'weird'. But what I like of Japan is:

When I think of Japan, I think at how they

react regarding 'weird' in the sense of

'strange'. They would not mind if robots

or aliens started to walk along the streets,

where the western cultures would react in

a more... 'unfriendly' way...

Ahhh, author insertion fantasy.  She seems to fall for brash, antisocial woman-haters who still know how to girltalk.  Think you can pull it off? :3

Not sure. But in Farewell Beloved Falco

comic she is saved by the blue guy and

she seemed to look at him in some rather

special way...

Oh well, I have to come up

with a way of putting her in danger without

her knowing it was me, then save her...

For crying out loud, we have had a lot of freaking issues with this already. Read the topic in the announcement subforum to understand what's going on.

As simply as "if you don't like it, don't even bother watching", no one needs to see a negative comment towards this, we are already fed up with them, so keep your own comments to yourself.

I have a right to my opinion just as everybody else, you can't tell people to shut up simply because they disagree with you.

I'm replying to these so-called *facts* of the homosexual starfox fanbase.

Yeah, sure, the japanese may like gay fantasies of otherwise straight caracters, but 10% of the japanese videogame industry also centers around rape videogames, does that mean we have to start acting like rape is some form of legitimate entertainment as well?

Like I said, either you READ what is going on, or I'll simply kick you out from here, understood? It's not about "right of opinion" is about being a jerk. Most people are complaining about your attitude, and the staff agrees that either you stop being a problem, or we will just ban you, you seem to hate everyone's opinion here, so why don't you go somewhere else? seriously.

Well, when Fox and Falco are paired, Krystal is usually nowhere to be seen - the fans who liked Fox and Falco being together are also probably the fans who never liked or welcomed Krystal to begin with (and, as I mentioned, Krystal isn't nearly as popular in Japan where most of the Fox/Falco romance comes from).  Maybe it's a world without Krystal. X3 Also, even if Krystal exists in that world, it's possible Fox and Falco can take place before Krystal arrives and/or after she leaves.  I honestly can't vouch for Krystal's own interests, except that I know that she likes men, and Fox likes women.  Also (and this may not be the first thing people think of), but it could even be possible that if Fox were in a relationship with Falco, that they are not exclusive (it's called an "open relationship") - this may be even more likely if the relationship is secret (consider the plot of Brokeback Mountain).  Anyway, there can conceivably be all sorts of variations to this concept, and the circumstances tend not to matter as much as the chemistry and emotion portrayed.

Ultimately, the fangirls (and yes, the artists are often girls) care most about Fox and Falco appearing as natural soulmates.  Most of the time they're drawn fully-clothed and just being sweethearts together.  Like this art by SoulDreamX (click for full size):

This is a lot more common than you may realize, and it's entirely family-friendly in Japan, as it's the girls themselves (young and old) who like this.  Until you've seen a complete family film about same-gender romance, you may not completely understand.

Here, this is probably one of the best-celebrated Japanese family films about a same-gender romance.  It's called Arashi no Yoru ni ("One Stormy Night").  (PG-ish for some brief violence.)  It was published in Japan and Taiwan for family audiences, but they decided not to publish it elsewhere, because this kind of thing is very difficult to market.  But this may well illustrate just how not controversial this kind of thing is.

In fact, I can think of a lot of anime and video games with totally canonical LGBT characters and same-gender romances in them.  Even those made for children.  Even the Mario series (which they've cleverly hidden in translation).  When relationships are obvious enough, localization to English has been problematic for market-minded distributors who don't want to offend conservative American parents, and has often involved extensive rewrites (as in Sailor Moon) or extensive cuts (as in Card Captor Sakura).  Many series simply don't see commercial localization at all, because these things simply cannot be hidden properly - Revolutionary Girl Utena had more than one LGBT storyline (and even ended with one, and even included a separate incest plot as well), so you're not about to see it anywhere near CW4Kids.

Awwww, I was actually using this thread to educate people in general.  This is not supposed to be a mature topic. :(
