So how many of you have played any of the Touhou series?

A really, really big indie shmup series. It's got 16-ish official installments in the series and many, MANY more fan works, usually parodying other games (Like Mega Man) and most are above average to freakin' great quality. It's mostly known for it's music, though. Touhou has some absolutely amazing music and chances are you've heard some of it without realizing it. In total, between the actual BGM in the games and covers that Japanese music circles do, the total compressed file size of every song known tips at 70 GIGS.

For those that don't know, some videos:

<- Super boss of the 8th game. The entire thing isn't nearly this hard, so mortal people can enjoy it too. Touhou actually, compared to most shmups, is really easy on lower difficulties. If you ever had an interest in these bullet hells but didn't want to be completely destroyed, Touhou is probably good for you.

<- one of my favorite themes, plays during the fight with the most furry character the series has.

Discuss, gentlemen.

You spend way too much time playing Tou hou. That better not be the dominant theme when I'm stuck with you for almost two weeks. :P

I'll spam so much of it down your throat that you'll have no choice but to love it.

To me,

Earthbound pwns Touhou.

But it's my opinion.

Although I've never played em' Earthbound has my vote. It's less anime, more adventure-ish.

It's less anime,

Everyone I know seems to pick on this. Anime is simply the art style, it's still a classic 2D game that'd work just as well in 8 bit as it would as it does with it's overtly Japanese style (which is fitting considering it's, you know, japanese).

Nothing against Earthbound, though. It's a work of art. However, Touhou beats it out as far as being a replayable game, though. (Touhou has no adventure though. It doesn't even have plot. It has half baked ones that only serve as an excuse to pump out another game.)

On the subject of touhou and Earthbound, though...

Yes. It's got that too. (and if I do say so, it's only SLIGHTLY below Earthbound in quality)

So you're telling me that Touhou is like Yume Nikki, an game where the weirdest things happen.

UBOA!
