Asper Sarnoff
Been bugging me for a while this, and now that we have a mature section, it's now open for a civil discussion.Be warned tough. I'll be keeping an eye on this tread, and as soon as I see it crossing into why someones personal beliefs are better than someone elses, I'll go all Modminator on you. With that out of the way, let's move on to the topic at hand.Do you believe any of the countless inhabitants of Lylat have religiuous beliefs? Some planets more than other? And if you've tought about this, do you have any theories you'd like to share?
Dermot
This is interesting. I'll bite. :3Well, it may not be feasible to presume they have any religions identical to those on Earth. Maybe some are similar in fundamental concept, but none will have the exact same canon, etc. Since Earth religions are incredibly diverse and varied, of course, there's no reason to think there wouldn't be a significant variety in Lylat as well. Many major world religions start out as either offshoots of existing major religions, or evolve from folk religions that became influential beyond their original practitioners. Religions can have different concepts of divinity, or of the meaning of life, or of matters of ritual or dogma. It is helpful to academically study many different religions, folk beliefs and cultural/tribal practices to get an idea of how ideas can develop in cultures at opposite corners of the world that have no mutual contact.I know that Japan has its own particular religious history. Shinto is the traditional Japanese animist religion that forms much of the oldest foundations of its culture. A small variety of Buddhist sects were later introduced (Shingon, Zen, etc.), and these were syncretized with Shinto. Christianity started to become very influential after first contact with the Portuguese. It was promptly banned for centuries during the Edo Period, but it remained practiced as a crypto-religion. And modern Japan is largely very secular or atheist.Really, every culture has its own complex traditional folk beliefs. Nothing is ever going to be simplistic and of a pure dogma, and there are always signs of syncretism with older beliefs that preceded newer beliefs. Even secular and atheist people of any particular land are going to be strongly influenced by the traditional religion's culture. Sometimes, a religion and culture are so tightly intertwined and mutually influenced that it's hard to tell which is the religion and which is the culture.I suggest academic study of many diverse Earth religions, to get an idea of how cultures can develop these kinds of things (and how people think, how it integrates into culture, how culture influences religion, etc.). Besides the well-known Judaism, Christianity and Islam (in all their many varieties), there are also:Afro-American religion, Bahá'í Faith, Buddhism, Canaanite religion, Cao Dai, Celtic polytheism, Cheondoism, Chinese folk religion, Deism, Druze, Gnosticism, Hellenic Polytheistic Reconstructionism, Hinduism, Jainism, Mandaeism, Norse paganism, Rastafari movement, Samaritanism, Seicho-no-Ie, Shinto, Sikhism, Tenrikyo, Wicca, Yazidism, Zoroastrianism...This doesn't have to be nearly as controversial as it may seem. :3 As long as people can be respectful and think in terms of social sciences, without flaunting any particular sense of personal religious supremacy or religious contempt, this can be studied by anyone until the cows come home. Wolves, chameleons, panthers, foxes, falcons, hares and toads are also all unkosher. Humans are unkosher too - for eating.

Asper Sarnoff
Silly Julius. Fair enough with your theory about the Krazoas Kursed. At least they were very important to the Saurians. I've caught myself wondering a bit tough, if the Krazoa was nothing more than Cerenians (concealed by huge masks that is), which had travelled to Sauria, and trough their magical or technological advantage over the relatively primitive Saurians, been workshipped by them. There have been others than me who have had that ideas well it seems.http://undyingnephalim.deviantart.com/art/We-are-of-the-Krazoa-162439238?q=gallery%3AUndyingNephalim%2F1784468&qo=

Milkyway64
F-Zero and StarFox are connected, so it's possible human religion could be present as well....Like This Out side of the Krazoa, we have nothing that suggests anything, though, so it's really all up to your imagination. They could practice ANY religion.

Dermot
I don't even want to think about that OoOh, that's not so shocking or disturbing. It's just realistic. A mere affiliation or description of belief is not necessarily inflammatory - at least it shouldn't be.In fact, I've been trying to think of how to set up a "What is your religion (or lack thereof)?" poll, but I'm trying to compile a good international list first. :
