For those of you who don't know, a Ouija Board, according to Wikipedia, is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouija_board

Now that we're caught up, let's discuss the Ouija Board (please keep religious discussions to a minimum).

Do you think it's "just a game"?

Or is it really "dangerous"?

You ever use one?

I myself messed with one, once, but nothing happened.  Me and a friend were 11 when we played with it, but nothing happened.  I hear stories about them though.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with them, now that I hear more and more stories about 'em, I'd NEVER allow one in my house, and I know for a fact, NEVER, burn a Ouija board, EVER.

It was never anything dangerous originally, it was just a game. There's no way to say this nice, but people added ghosts and spirits in after the fact.

I've never heard of it, and that wikipedia description didn't make me much wiser.

Truth be told, apart from me not really beliving in these sort of things, I wouldn't really care if they were true either.

As I said, it started off as a toy that got all devil worshipy. Basicly, people rest their hands on a disc, over a board with letters on. They (the players) ask a question and the disc will move over letters to spell out the answer. The way it works is explained in the podcast I linked to.

Over time it changed from an embarrassing truth game to ghosts, and then it got the stigma of being dangerous during the satanic panic, a period of paranoia in amarican history where people believed satic cults were out to kidnap kids and stuff. Most of the pop culture knowlage of devil worship and the like come from that time.

I really don't believe in Ouija boards, but my friends scared the crap out of themselves once using one, but I personally think they were just being paranoid.

They went into the school auditorium, (which is over a hundred years old no joke) and they started messing with a Ouija board. Something appeared on the board that scared them so bad that they took the board out into a field and burned it.

I think they were just being stupid.

They sure were.  They're NOT supposed to burn the damn thing... O_o

I personally think there is something wrong with a Ouija board, they can easily be manipulated, either by a person, or a malevolent non-human entity (Demon).

*EDIT* I heard the podcast, but my opinion still stays the same.
