I have the Sega Genesis/Megadrive version.

But it has almost nothing to do with PC versions.

In fact, it later turned out that mine's was a rare

version that got few releases, right before the games

title was changed to 'The Chaos Engine'.

Everything else is unchanged.

Maybe...

But really, it has nothing to do with PC versions.

First, you had an AI controlled teammate (or you could

have another human player as a teammate).

There were 6 characters, each one with his relatively unique

stats, and also each one had a special 'power' (e.g.: Could throw

a bomb, map the current location, ect.)

However, it was Top-Down view. There was no blood at all,

and you did not fought humans but rather the monsters/creations

of the Chaos Engine (hence why the game's title was changed

later to this.)

I may have some screenshots if you want, althrough it is probably

not the FPS you were expecting, however there are intense

moments of button-bashing.

Also: It was full of side-puzzles. You could almost allways unluck a secret

place to Level up your weapon or an extra life, or maybe even a different

level exit.

Sorry, but that deserves a .

And one to me, too. My brother left a

savegame in the 'Train stage', so that

is the only stage I actually played.

Time for history lesson.

Soldier of Forture 1 was known for it's violence. It started out as a generic shooting game, but the miletry advisor was so charasmatic he got the leading role, and still has the best tach in games unless we count captain price. It was a massive hit, and awsome. The idea of stealth is blow everyone to pieces before they can scream. Awesome. You also blow to crap out of a punk in a subway peeing.

2 I never played.

Chaos engine is also awsome, but not related in any way. There are also 2 urban chaos games that are also unrelated, unfortunate naming. Chaos engine is a rock solid steampunk game made by the bitmat bros and well worth your time. You can get the snes version on emulation, and other then changing the preacher to the scientist (you can see where his church collor went) it's a great game with a great themetune.

the CD intro

and that bad arse theme song

There are rumour of a sequal in the works.

Soldier of Fortune 360 is apparently awful, and has numberous bad design coices, but it's not horrible, just not good.

You can pic up the first one dead cheap and will run on acient PCs. I recomend it if you want a simple "Blow a dudes head off" style FPS.
