Ha!

No, I don't sound like Fox in real life. You can hear my voice samples at mikewestvoicework.com. The closest thing to my actual voice is something on there for Microsoft Silverlight. If you really want to hear some screwball voices from the past, go to Youtube and search for Leave It To Beaver 1980. I did most of the voices for that parody too. We won many awards for our radio drama work back in the day. It's a lost art these days. I doubt many of you even listen to the radio anymore. I am a Pandora XM Sirius person myself. A lot of you have emailed me personally or friended me on Facebook. I am happy to answer your questions if I have the time.

I've listened to a few radio dramas before, they're pretty neat. How many other ones have you done?

As for Sirius XM, my dad has that in his truck. Its pretty nifty, much better than AM/FM.

That is crazy neat... XD  Being a professional voice actor.  The range is pretty amazing.

Over on AL, (I am the administrator by the way) I used to host a short lived radio show though my computer.  The best time I had was playing the Jeff Wayne "War of the Worlds" musical.  I enjoy the art of sound a lot.  I am glad that you decided to come by one of the SF forums and say hello to us!  Your voice has given us many long lasting memories!

I listen to AM radio a lot when I'm traveling.  It's one of my sources for being up to date on what's happening on this planet :P

Thankfully, internet radio stations have been keeping the radio up to date with our ever evolving technology. I love being able to look up songs on a website hours after hearing them on a radio just by remembering what time they were played at! And Pandora has helped too, but it certainly is different from what it used to be.

As for radio dramas and comedies - I actually had some exposure from a family I knew that did not own a television (very intentionally so) and as such, their kids loved to listen to radio shows on Friday nights and whatnot - and knew the best stations too. Thankfully, I doubt it will ever truly die out (as long as someone's voice is their strong suit) but it is too bad to see that it's not what it always was. Watching historic trends though - hopefully it will come back someday with a high level of nostalgia for "the classics" and inspiration for a new generation, similar to what we're seeing now with orchestrated music.
