Video Game Missions That Scared the Crap out of you.

Okay, I don't mean to sound like a total D**k here, but I've played in just about every game you guys have mentioned (Save RE5), and none of it scared me. As a child growing up in the military, and from there, going from one hellhole to the next, I've seen some scary stuff. It is these experiences that lend me no fear of video games.

What, did you live in Uganda or something?

"You wern't dare man! You wern't dare!"

Seriously, that's dumb thing to say. You were in the army. Whoop-de-do. We've all done horrible things and played horror games, we still freak out at them.

When I was about 10 or so, I rented the game based off of John Carpenter's The Thing. The game went on fine, few little pissant enemies, few randomly mauled bodies, the usual. Then I make it to part of the main facility, and there is a guy losing his freaking mind in the corner, because there are 4 man sized "Things" out there, and I need to go kill them.

I get to window, and two of em rush past it, and I was like, "To hell with that, I ain't going out there, move over buddy." Unfortunately, the things are able to bust down the doors after a while, which they did. Suddenly, I was trapped in a room that I really would of preferred to be bigger if I'm going to be attacked by an alien creature that can infect you, take over your body, and assimilate you, taking your place. Also, you have to kill them by weakening them with standard gunshots, then burning them with fire. Long story short, another one came in while I was playing "ring around the pool table" with the first one, I died, had nightmares.

I hate water so much. One of the more recent "scared ****less" moments I had in a game was in Twilight Princess of all things. Some of you might already know where I'm going. the water temple boss. When it drops you into that deep tank and everything is dead quiet. I refused to dive down because the bottom wasn't visible and I actually made my little sister do it. Once the boss came out I was fine though. >.>

In contrast and even more recently than that is Monster Hunter Tri. An early quest asks you to go to the ocean to harvest some stones just off shore, and I wasn't having that. Of course I went in anyway, but I didn't want to go into the water because of sharks and- oh HELL. So yeah, I swim back to shore and take a moment to build the courage to fight them. I win and go about my business when a giant sea dragon swims up and roars. I'm already back to the beach and I seriously sat there for about thirty minutes watching it, only going back in when it went to sleep.

I are a pansy.

The Suffering: Prison is Hell

close to the end when you were heading to the docks from the lighthouse. when you first exit, you heard these little girls talking.....once you got outside the lighthouse, you would find three little girls aimlessly walking around talking like "Why did everyone die?" "Was it our fault?" then out of nowhere they burst into flames. this would happen several times. but every time was creepy because they would aimlessly talk and you would be unsure of their transformation.

If it's 1 person on the enemy team and only you left on your team, you can get really jumpy, given that SOCOM has random sounds happen. Buildings will have rubble and stuff fall, making a loud clacking as it falls, which can make you jump out of your chair.

This is especially true in night maps, because when they say night, they mean night.

 Daaamn! :P.

Anyone ever play Driver 2 on Playstation here?  Whenever your on a mission, or even just driving freely, and you don't see a cop on the radar, it will literally scare the shit out of you once their loud as hell sirens come on and they keep smacking you into walls .

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, when you crash into the lake with your car and have to try to escape before you drown. It makes it worse that you loose your flashlight, and outside the window all you see is dark water...until the monsters slam into the windows and scare the living daylights out of you. ;D

I hear ya! Although, I loved that part. The bit I got stuck on was the Nightmare in the Saw Mill. I got lost because my screen brightness wasn't up enough and I kept missing a door. -_-"

Any escort mission.

I find it quite frightening to stick my neck out for some poorly programmed NPC.

Same here!

More recently, playing online in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on the PC. It's kind of a cross between Call of Duty and Metal Gear Solid. You'll be crouched, and everything will be dead silent except for the wind. Then, out of nowhere, this deafening (I play my games really loud, it adds to the realism :D) whip sound will suddenly scare the crap out of you. Other than that, when you're with a buddy, and the two of you are sneaking out from behind cover, and there's suddenly this red flash, and he's thrown back, shortly followed by the boom of an armor piercing (3 feet of solid concrete) sniper rifle.

Oh, and when I was younger, I was scared by Alpha in MegaMan 3
