Your take on: Pigma Dengar

Asper Sarnoff

Recommended Posts

The man who backstabbed James McCloud, and left young Fox an orphan from then on, seemingly the character in the whole franchise hated most by the members of this forum. A perfect enemy for Fox and Peppy to hold a grudge against...

But, what's your take on the traitorus Pigma? Do you like him, or dislike him? And why so? And anything else related to this character.

I see him as for comic relief.

Sure, he is evil, he is a traitor.

But lets face it: He is big, he is fat,

he is ugly, and smells bad.

Maybe we need more info as to 'why'

he betrayed James - Just because he

wanted money, or was he jealous of

Fox's father piloting skill?

I think these should be answered.

And after that, well, he is a comic villain.

Pigma is a real s***bag, but at the same time, he's the antagonist you love to hate.

He reminds me of a [former] friend of mine named Doug.  I knew Doug and AJ personally, AJ I liked, Doug and I had a falling out....course, he was a jackass, made lots of money, unfortunately, but thank God he moved to Florida.

Pigma? don't even get me started on that fat f**k. He's a greedy-@$$ B**tard that needs to die. If I ever get my hands on him, I'll tear him to shreds.

He is as despicable as Andross. Pigma Dengar is an evil, backstabbing, greedy, money-grubbing, stupid, heartless piece of crap! :x

Out of the StarWolf team members in StarFox 64, he was the most satisfying to take down. It was even more satisfying to finally kill the miserable piece of filth in Assault.

I mean, look: This punk led to the capture of both James and Peppy by Andross just for money. He then fought alongside Andross' army against both Corneria and the new StarFox team just to fatten his own pockets. And then years later, he impeded the fight against the Aparoid menace, again just to get rich.  :x

I do not count his "appearance" in Command, it was just dumb.

I also see no real reason to bring him back from the dead. Let him burn forever like the scum that he is.

Good riddance to bad rubbish I say.

If he were someone in real life, he'd be a PR guy for a corporate CEO.

Personally, I'd like Pigma to somehow survive his "death" in Assault, and make a return in the next game, if one ever comes around.

Why? and how? Quite simple really. Make him the main villain of that game.

Story:

This is one of the big buggers. Where, and how do we start this chapter of the franchise.

While I have spoken out against the people who disregard Command as cannon, which parts of it is untill big N says otherwise, it's tempting to discard it and start immediatly after Assault. The reason why I will get to later on.

Main plotpoint I won't really say anything about. But I think it would be a good idea to leave "A threat to the entire galaxy appears!" out of it, and make the SF team more like mercenaries that saviours. For example a shady figure gives them what seems like an easy, but profitable job, and they get way, way more than they bargained for.

This is copied from my ideas for "the next SF game". And you know what? Make that shady figure Pigma. The team think this is just another job, but it's in reality Pigma setting them up for a final coup de grace. By planting dirt on them or putting them in the target line of a criminal organisation of some sort, or another believable way.

About 2/3 into the game, after a failed attempt to dispose of SF once and for all, he reveals himself to them before getting away. Add some proper emotions to Fox, and partially Peppy when they know who they're dealing with, play on their hatred for the man who's responsible for James's death. And in the end, maybe they'll finally get him, maybe not.

Oh, and make him less of a comical, disgusting slob like we've seen him before, and more a calculating, serious schemer.

The fact that so many of you seem to properly dislike, and even hate him, really speaks for this way in my opinion.

My 0.02$.

Sounds like a good idea, Asper. Shame the writers for Nintendo aren't as creative as you. :D

blackmail Nintendo into using that

idea...

No a bad idea...especially if they get the guy who played as "Newman" on Seinfeld, Wayne Knight, to do Pigma's voice, since Wayne Knight plays scheming characters like that a lot (Al McWiggin from Toy Story 2, Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park, etc.).

Ah, Pigma. Despite being a scumbag, still didn't deserve his fate in Assault.

While I can see why Pigma is often disregarded as a totally vile character (and to a degree he is), he still has plenty of depth to be explored. You must remember, he was one of James and Peppy's long time friends, and there had to have been a reason for him to backstab them like he did. Yes, money was a big factor, but they were still (at one time anyway) his friends. Was there a personal grudge? Jealousy? I'd like to see that explored further. I'd also like to see how Pigma would have been contacted by Andross in the first place to stage the betrayal.

Beyond that, I also want to see how Pigma interacted with Starwolf, considering hes the "old veteran" of that team, with a very biting sense of humor compared to Leon's near-stoic disnterest and Wolf's "serious business" routine, and Andrew's obnoxious antics. Really, Pigma has potential to really be one of those "well loved douchebag" characters, who act entirely rudely, to our entertainment. Making light of bad situations, brushing off problems and moral complications like its no big deal, putting up a real "tough guy" sort of act, even if his true feelings contradict it.

And for the love of GOD, we need INTERACTION BETWEEN HIM, FOX, AND PEPPY. HE IS WHY JAMES DIED, DAMMIT. The SECOND worst thng about Pigma in Assault after his utterly anti-climatic death was how Fox and Peppy both semed to not give two flying shits that HEY, LOOK, PIGMA. They treat him like he's some shmuck, even though he's responsible for a great deal of trauma in both their lives.

We need more ULTIMATE RAGE MODE.

Pigma is likeable in that he is a very unlikeable character, which is necessary for his role in the series. I'm with Robert that Peppy and Fox should hold more emotion in their dealings with Pigma, both should definitely harbor some hard feelings towards him.

Pigma is gay.  I'm kidding, I'm kidding! :P *dodges tomatoes*

Honestly, I don't have many thoughts about Pigma.  He seems a bit...one-dimensional, if that makes sense.  Like he only exists to be the treacherous Wormtail-type, and without Andross to serve, he's just...evil with whomever he can get power from.

Pigma needs even more of a backstory - something to make him seem more grey.

He's trapped in a parallel dimension.  He can appear, but only in the appearance of a talking space whale or a disembodied voice.  In Star Fox SNES, he could appear at completely random moments, and leave a trail of powerups to help Fox. :3

He's also an F-Zero (and possibly G-Zero) racer...
