Now we're getting close to the end of these topics. Still got a few more, which will come soon.

What's your take on Katt Monroe? Do you like her, or dislike her? And why?

Should she quit chasing Falcos tail, or should she hook up with him for good? And everything else related to this character.

Well, what I can say?

She looks good, she is a bad**s,

she has a good deal of skill (or looks

like she has so).

It is a shame we know very little about

her, really. She could use some good character

development.

Maybe some slight hinting at Falco could help,

but I am not sure.

Pink Katt is cool and although over the top, not totally sickening. She's a stereotype like a lot of SF characters are and has her place. I think she should keep chasing Falco, but if they ever got together it'd kill some of the personality in their relationship I think.

She's also pretty sexy. I mean... those legs...

I really like her. I did not find her annoying at all, I liked her fighter personality, and I found her flirting with Falco (Falco X Katt is my second favorite couple in SF) actually kind of cute. :P And as I said a few months ago, it seems that Falco tries to hide the fact that he really does like her with his bit at the end of the Zoness mission:  :falco: Katt? "Where did you go?"

I do not like her Command version, She completely changed her fur color and her proportions with no reason given at all as to why it is so. and her outfit was bad too, she looked like a street gang punk trying to look like a ninja wannabee.  :x She was as messed up as all the  other characters (returning or new).

Hopefully, she will back to her 64 version in the next game.

My view on the matter...

I agree.  I don't like her theme music though, sounds like some crappy "Little Mermaid" theme.

I finally asked some of my Japanese friends about this issue, particularly in relation to the source text of "Farewell, Beloved Falco".  Basically...Falco's interest in Katt is zero.  He doesn't give an inch of attraction towards her.  But what she is to him, is an old best friend.  Yes, she's very much in love with him, but she's also been long frustrated at how completely unrequited this love is.

My new sig (as of 28 May 2010) reflects my opinion on this. XD But I actually scripted it with the help of my Japanese friend.  Basically, Katt originally said (translated from Japanese), basically, "Falco, do you have a lover?"  This is both an emotional and casual context, and also doesn't specify male or female lover.  (The fan scanlation "Falco, do you have a girlfriend?" is a wee bit too specific.)  Falco's response (translated from Japanese) was basically, "I never have a lover."  My friend explained that the way he said it was a tad wishy-washy, as if his statement may not be relied upon.  And in the rest of the comic's Japanese text, Falco's treatment of Katt is very strictly that of a friend, with no especially intimate overtones whatsoever.  The overall message was, yes, Falco cares about Katt, but never in the way she might have preferred.  So Katt's romantic love has always been, and always will be, unrequited.  Most of my friends could relate very intimately to the nuances of this story - it resonated on a very personal level, like Falco is just like any of us, and that Katt is like any valued female friend who liked us a little more than we were able to reciprocate.  Katt found her Mr. Right, but as many a woman finds out, all the most perfect men are non-straight.

Still, Katt's role in Falco's life cannot be understated.  She's an old dear friend from his younger years, and was like a sister to him during that time.  She depended on him a lot more than he depended on her, but he is still steadfastly loyal to her.  In a very meaningful sense, she is Falco's family.  If she could find enough confidence in herself, she could even help Falco in his hour of need.  (But would he still be too proud to accept her help?)

All in all, I like Katt as a character.  She's complex, and adds well to the story. :3

Hey, I made an entire comment without saying "gay"! :D

...Awww, dammit.

I don't care how she looks, as long as she is dignified. :3

I always interperted Falco's off-hand atitude to Katt as him trying to be a hardass. I always saw Katt and Falco as both being too stubborn to actually ADMIT they love each other, and Falco displays this with the "tough guys don't love" attitude, where as Katt goes the opposite and becomes incredibly flirtatious and playful, so while she's directing her affections to Falco, she isn't coming off as serious for him.

And that really sums up my thoughts on Katt. I love her, she's a girly-girl who kicks ass with pink lasers that damn sparkle. She's got a tough-girl attitude that's bellied by her flirtiness, combined with the playful non-serious attitude that hides deeper feelings.

I don't know why, but if I were to view Katt as a human, I can see her as a sassy black girl. There is something about her that gives off that vibe to me.

Anyway, while she has some great character potential, she is another one of the characters that hasn't been fully explored. Nintendo can definitely build on the character if they put her in the next game.

  • 1 year later...

I like her and I hate her. Sometimes she seems like a jerk, like in Farewell Beloved Falco.

And NO, Falco and Katt should NOT hook up because Falco's a bird and Katt.... IS A CAT!!!! She's probably going to eat him our something.
