I can take it seriously too. Just not when the writing is on key with saturday morning cartoons (eating through the space armada like a doughnut in a fat farm!).

I keep wanting to work with one of my Japanese friends to retranslate that script from scratch. :P Anyway, I found the Space Armada stage to be a genuine Crowning Moment Of Awesome. :3 When you first get there, you think it's going to be a hard stage, and at first you may not actually succeed.  But the music is awesome, and it's very possible to get 100% completion.  It's Badass.  In retrospect, there could be some things about it that could be construed as Bad Writing, but it was fun. :P

That line was from the Nintendo Power comic, man :P

And yeah, Space Armada is awesome. And rule of fun is entirely what I am getting at. I enjoy Starfox because its cheesy, corny, space shooting arcade fun. It isn't serious in the least, and shouldn't pretend to be (lookin at you Assault and Command).

I like serious sometimes.  As long as tongue-in-cheek and deadpan snarking are never far away at any moment. :3

Serious as in maybe Fox's ultimate rage mode at Andross in the SNES comic or his "Nothing's wrong" sad moment at the ending of SF64, but thats as far as I want it to go

You sound like Leonard Maltin's take on serious drama in film. :P
