And about MGE, It was pretty intimidating to get owned that bad. I had killed that quentin guy like one or 2 times, and he got to like 7 before my game crashed. I should have taken my shotgun along, the stock launcher takes forever to reload ..

Point of MGE is to get better, so getting your ass handed to you at first is expected. I'll gladly take qualms when facing someone who can destroy me at scoot in a 1 vs 1 if I learn something about my game in the process and how to improve it. That being said MGE is not for everyone, some people will enjoy it, others will not.

I take it you don't like that meme ?

I don't care if people use one of the few crutch weapons (even I use them! When I Pyro, I exclusively use the Phlog because I'm bad at anything that requires -skill-), but when someone who in the face of evidence that shows them the weapon they prefer to use is crippling their ability and learning curve, but still insist on using it, it can be frustrating.

Hey, uhm, its because, I never really asked for the evidence in the first place. I really don't know why you guys are so irritated because I'm limiting my abilities. If anything you should be happy, since I won't be a match for you in that case, no ?

Well TF2 decided to break tonight. Anytime I launch it I get "hl2.exe has stopped working" tried every fix, deleted everything I could, validated cache multiple times. Restarted, etc. Same stuff.

Soo what else to do but reinstall? I have to download 9GBs (about an hour's worth) so it's likely I won't make it at all tonight. This really sucks. I was looking so forward to playing tonight since I missed last week.

Tonight for yours truly, was tons of fun. I had good games with Ajc and Tardis and Commissar Fox and not-Gene and Psy Commando and Dublinfox and Hidi.

Sounds like you guys had fun. Too bad I couldn't get TF2 sorted until 11PM.....at least it's fixed now. :(

Come! Come! The server was pretty moot by 11, and that's about when I entered. I couldn't get in any earlier though, sadly. See y'all tomorrow! Also, don't mind me if I'm playing even worse than I do; my brother may want to try out some TF2.

Damn, I missed the first hour and a half, because I got sick like a dog, hopefully the nausea stopped ! It would have been shorter but my body continued to try to make me puke when I was empty... Good times ..

Anyways, I didn't do too bad, even if I felt pretty weak for a while. And I can't overload jump anymore, I lost my timing ... :(

I'll put the vids here, when they're uploaded. And obviously not all of the game night will be there :

We defeated those BLU team Nazee's! Lead by Jim Hitler and Michael Moore, who wanted to take RED team's guns away!

Anyway I preformed slightly less efficiently as last night, I think, but I had fun. Shame Cashworks didn't work out like I had hoped.

It's bad when one gets killed by a Direct Hit.

If someone is good with the Direct Hit, it's near impossible not to die. What it lacks in hurting groups of people, it makes up for with "See those two guys over there? I'm gonna make them dead and there isn't dick they can do about it."

Tonight was amazing early on and up until Foundry. After that it all died down and I played very poorly.

We had some awesome players on there tonight. I had a lot of fun. :)

Direct Hit is really only good for managing one or two people at a time, the lack of splash damage makes crowd control virtually impossible, even for a good player.

Looking back, yes.

The only thing I don't agree with is the "near impossible not to die" part since that could be said about any weapon in the hands of a good player. The Direct Hit is still open to flaws and isn't an end all weapon, as I am sure you already know.

Not an end all, but if someone knows how to consistently "pop and drop" with it, it kills everything except maybe an overhealed Hoovy, soldier, and perhaps demoman if he has heads. A regular that was on the Legion of Ponies servers had his Hale's Own Direct Hit with over 10k kills when I last saw it, which was a long time ago (and he got it legitimately, none of that idle server farming crap), and if you ran into him and he had two rockets in it, you were dead, as he would pop you in the air, then drop you with a forced airshot minicrit. Every. Fucking. Time. 'Twas a thing of beauty, it was.

I didn't say it was flawless, it just requires the right hands and fills a different role than the other rocket launchers. And, it's only as good as you are, so if you used it and think it's shit, I've got news for ya, bub. It's only as good as you are. If you get good with it, though, you can walk in and say "Fuck you" to any two targets of your choosing. If you survive the encounter and reload, you can come back and do it again.

There's a reason though why in high level comp games NO ONE uses the Direct Hit. If you play against anyone who can actually dodge or air strafe (i.e. outside baddy pub games) than the Direct Hit suddenly doesn't look so great.

Like a lot of weapons the Direct Hit is situational. For all around offense, defense, and for changing situations on the fly you can't beat the regular launcher. Direct Hit is more of an offensive 1 v 1 or sentry busting weapon that severely lacks in defensive capabilities like spamming a CP that's being captured or a choke point. Even with perfect accuracy it still has disadvantages depending on playstyle, and in a situation where you are outnumbered you have little chance to survive.

It's a good weapon for a pub basher though, but in serious competition it's virtually never used, and for good reason.

I usually use it to get rid of sentries myself.
