Official SF-O TF2 Server (DEPRECATED)

Since nobody has said so, I had fun on Friday, it was just too bad my game kept crashing, and did so when I was about to kill a battle Medic.

I got a replay of that awesome defensive round on Dustbowl. That was awesome, and I got the achievement I've been trying to get from some time - Specialist: Acquire 10,000 heal points in a single life.

Wow, nice! :)

I'm trying to get that replay exported, though the length of that single life has made the rendering process difficult.

It's a shame, too. It hardly gives me the room to edit it.

How's game nights been dudes? Who still plays? Who've we lost? (besides me!)

I haven't played in the last couple of weeks because of various reasons, but I'll definitely be there this Friday.

How's game nights been dudes? Who still plays? Who've we lost? (besides me!)

Regulars are mostly DZ, Hidi, Scott/OWA, Scourge, Lone, High, and yours truly.
Less frequent (from my observations) Ajc, Gene, Zero/Shaper, Psy, Firebug and the gang (Fail, Mist, Yaato, and so on)

Not too many, but we can still have a lot of fun.

How are you, Rob?

So most of you buttheads are still around. Good to know, good to know.

Me, I've gone back to school and the old toaster just finally stopped playing games at all. Sadness.

Way too much fun.

... Until OP W+M1 took effect, then it was kinda like

kills * badburner ammo + 9000 = amount of fun

although the teams were pretty unbalanced, but ehhh.

I wonder how the rest of the night went after I crashed and ded.

But that first Underwater man jeez. I had a roll but Icy, you could say for a time, you gave me frostbite. :troll:

But Steam for sure is going to get one hell of a message.

Damnit.

So, I crashed, and then noticed that all my effort in trying to one day be able to play TF2 without weirdness and lag, like it used to be, led to nothing..

I even bought that Intel NIC, and while it fixed a lot of other issues I had with the crappy realtek drivers for my on-board NIC, it didn't help one bit with the choke issues..

Game Night was freaking awesome tonight!

I wish Replay was working properly because there were so many good moments to capture. Anyways, lots of fun just practicing being a more in-your-face Medic and getting used to different mouse settings.

Fun for you, maybe. :-P I was getting wrecked by a couple of players on your team...

I had some good times, but I quit kinda early when two engies on my team decided to sabotage us.

People dropping out of the server after a scramble only to come straight back to re-stack the teams is becoming a problem again...

seriously guys, just take the team ya get at the start of the round, and make your team do well, instead of just wimping out and swapping

I agree with Scourge.

I get that part of the issue is that some of you have people you want to play with.

While I understand that, the problem is that one-sided games are no fun for the people on the short-end of them.

I know this past weekend I get a little fed-up and made some idle threats about banning people over it. I really don't want it to come to that.

Here are some proposed solutions:

1. Bring back the Mumble server - I can get a dedicated one for really cheap. This can be an all-time alltalk server. That way you can play with your friends without having to be on the same team as them.

2. Convert one of the nights to a crazy night and turn on RTD, blow the class limits, all-time alltalk, and bring on the novelty maps (Don't lie, you know you loved that skating rink map).

3. Install a plugin that blocks specifically choosing RED or BLU when you press the . key.

4. Say "Fuck it" and turn the server into a 24/7 32-player instant respawn 2fort server. :troll:

I personally seen little to no jumping from our own SF-Oers. The Majority is coming from the plebs and pubers not usually associated with the server as well as those random arriving clans now and then. I would also like to see option two more often. Those are the best nights and should be organized more than a casual game night.

But to those who do jump from side to side, and I think I speak for the majority, you're just killing the fun for everyone else.

Respectful Game of Get Out.

If you're going to bring back Mumble, at least have Red/Blue channels for when people want to do team talks, or maybe that's just my stupid UGC mindset setting in. Perhaps is it possible to disable team changes immediately after a scramble and keep it so for at least one round?

Anyway, I think we also need a potential class-cap on Medic (And exempt me from it, of course) because I also saw way too many Medics this past weekend. We don't need more than two when the two already can't spread their heals. We also know I'm the best Medic, and while four Medics are nice cannon fodder, they slow my Uber building.

Honestly, if we were to bring back anything, I'd say bring back the Comp nights, I had a fucking blast with those.

Hell, we may be short on members but we managed to bring in Romulan just from the regular server. We could do it again to fill out a comp team.

How did those work? I wasn't around when you guys did these, unless I was and just completely missed them.

We could do it again to fill out a comp team.

Does this imply bringing back the comp idea, potentially again? I don't mind that idea, and I'd be willing to help lead that, but we've proven time again we're not a community cut out for comp, yet from observation in UGC by some players, community-based teams tend to have a better team collaboration and dynamic, so if we could pull it off, 'Team SF-O' would have a supposed advantage.
