The "Comp Classes" (Scout, Soldier, Demo, Medic) should always be available. I for one hate the idea of disabling a class completely. No matter for how long. But if it's this much of a problem, limit 1 Heavy per team. I know a lot of people will be pissed about that, but Heavy is the pub equivalent of comp demo, and there's only one of those allowed in their matches. I, for one, like the idea. Ban/Limit a class to 1 for each team for one of our gamedays, like a rotation. A class is capped for a day, and after we go through the capped classes, we take off the cap for a bit, then do it all again. It forces some people to get off a certain class and can really change how the game flows. Like without heavies the one day, you were either a soldier or a pyro to airblast enemy soldiers' rockets. Guest Mr. Nintendo Posted August 27, 2011 Share Posted August 27, 2011 The thing about removing some classes such as Heavy is because most of the time, one team has 2 Heavies + 1 or 2 Medics and the general rule about Heavies is whoever has the most Heavies on their team, they steamroll the opponent's team and instantly win which I have to find complete bullshit. Also, if you all you ever play is Heavy or rarely play any other classes, then it's the right thing to do to disable 1 class for a week because you know, you should be trying some other classes to play as to help attack/defend the game. I understand that the Heavy is a ideal choice for both attacking and defending but most of time, you're just killing everyone and basically, you're overpowered and you can't be stopped with a Medic on your side or if you're a excellent Heavy player. Also on today's game: I don't know what's going on with Steam randomly booting me out of the SF-O server but other than that...I did a fine game with the exception of 'ClientLinkside ERRORS' that keep getting in my way at Pharaoh. Bad idea for large population servers? ... well considering we just had about 4 people on each team im not sure we'll be scraping our noses on the roof anytime soon. I like how at one point he was the weakest class, then he gets a rev speed buff and suddenly he's "unstoppable" and "bullshit." Yeah. Not the case. He has two hard counters, and only directly counters pyro and demoknight. Heavy is SUPPOSED to be a tank. That's kind of his job. He's supposed to weather assaults and serve as a front breaker. If 2 heavies are a problem then reduce it to one. Removing a class entirely is all sorts of stupid I don't even know. On another note, forcing other people to learn classes is dumb too. Sure, it might help them be better at the game, but ffs let them play how they want to. If people enjoy sniping, let them snipe. I mean...there is really no comparison. That being said I like having no heavies for the same reasons as DZ. It forces you more to work on teamwork and strategy (as well as get better with another class in the process. However I don't like this being on a permanent basis. "No heavy week" is fine by me and I don't mind seeing other classes get the ax for a short period of time. It mixes things up a bit and makes things more unpredictable. Also DZ, is it possible to post an updated topic or something with the caps for each class and other stuff that we should know about any game play changes? I mean...there is really no comparison. It pains me to say it, but I agree with the Canadian. Well, except for the fact that I personally would rather face six Heavies than six Engies on defense. Maybe that's just me, though. Milky is right in theory, that Heavies are not OP. But theory assumes that the game is being played a certain way. Objectively a Heavy might not be OP, but if every person in the server - or at least the majority, as seems to be the case here - generally has trouble taking Heavies out without going Heavy themselves, then in practice Heavy is OP. Limiting the class is fine. Also, I agree again that having certain banned classes for certain weeks sounds like a pretty fun idea, in theory. Removing them entirely is still dumb, and I'm not sure about making this a regular thing. On one hand, it could mix things up, on the other I get this feeling that pubber traffic would drop pretty fast, and face it, class balance could get rocked pretty hard (no pyros? I saw you when you were on fire three times when I was a heavy and each time I was like "Alright, AJC's dead" and each time I ended up getting killed and you somehow managed to have at least a third of your life left after you killed me. You then proceeded to do the same thing the next round as well. I enjoyed playing as a "surprise heavy" on that Egyptian payload map too while on Red. Got a heck of a lot of kills all without even having a medic nearby the first round. Apparently it make DZ switch to a heavy from Pyro and he had a medic with him the rest of that round as well. D: Also, regarding that map...underwater fire fights are fun! The last few game nights though I haven't been seeing as many of our regulars (Milky, Pointingman, Shrooms, etc) recently as I used to. I'll admit it has some good uses like if you're standing in front of a cart while it's moving and it's pushing you along but as someone who goes heavy frequently myself it just doesn't click with me. I haven't be on much because 1) Half the time I forget about the Friday game, 2) I can't make Sundays because I have practices/scrims with my gaming clan at 7 on Sundays. Though I think I'll start instigating some more random games throughout the week by spamming all of you with invites sometime during the day.
