GIANT SINKHOLE

Okay, it's time to come with a confession...

It was me. :D

Seriously though, that is one big hole. If someone stood right there when it happened, or drove into it the following seconds, I feel really sorry for them. Heck, they probably haven't hit the bottom yet.

"Watch out for the sinkhole!"

"What sinkHOOOOoooooo....."

Gotta say though, there'd be worse ways to die. At least you won't feel the impact when you hit.

Please stop spamming the mod emoticon DRL. *Walks up to DRL, him backing away until he stands with his back to the sinkhole.* Cause... you... are... no... MOD! *Kicks him in the chest, DRL falls down.*

It's never the moment you actually die which is the worst, but the moments before when you know this will go bad, and that you get plenty of on your way down there.

Actually, strange how I can be so certain of this :? But I imagine it is that way the least.

I think the worst is the part when you

'are falling'. I mean, duh, falling into the dark,

literally no idea how depth that is... Uh.

Or you could pull a Dr. Strangelove and go down laughing.

It looks more like a borehole than a sinkhole, since it's deeper than it is wide.

A typical sinkhole is in the shape of a bowl with a wide opening and a grade that gradually lessens in steepness to the bottom and center of the hole.

This hole is about 100 feet wide, but goes straight down for 300 feet before reaching the bottom.

Brilliant twist on an old classic.

Now I wonder how they're gonna investigate THAT.

If it rains hard, that could result in a landslide, which can fill part of the sinkhole.

Man that is a HUGE problem.

You must have a big hole in your head.  It's that 'evil woman' beating it into you, innit?

Though technically the lyrics to Evil Woman are 'there's a hole in my head where the rain gets in' but you can't say I didn't try... XD

Found out more about it, its real, its 330 ft. deep, and it didn't kill anyone but it did swallow up a clothing factory.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Where will we make our fasionable threads now?

On a related note, can you imagine explaining it to the insurence guy.

"It says here that the earth swallowed your factory and all it's supplies whole..."

Saw some pictures of this via CNN and the NatGeo webpage.  from what I read, it also swallowed up an entire 3-stroy office building.  the original reaction when reading this was along the lines of and pardon the language, 'holy sh*t!'

if there's one thing I'm hopeful for is that no one was in that place when the collapse happened.  if there was, then my condolences go out to whoever lost their loved ones.
