If you don't like someone, use the ignore list

Instead of making a scene when someone gets on you nerves, just add them to your ignore list.

Go to your profile.

Go to Modify Profile > Buddies/Ignore List... > Edit Ignore List

Under "Add user to ignore list" start typing the user's name. An autocomplete will pop up, select the name.

Click "Add."

Their posts will be hidden, with an option to view the post if you wish to.

Me neither. I don't really believe in just ignoring someone. For onr thing it makes me feel like I'm missing a big part of the conversation, second it makes me feel like I'm going "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" which is below my standards.

There's also that I rarely get mad at people enough to even think about it.

I've been using this function for days now, on a user I don't like.

But when there's a user whom hates me rather than I hate him, it interests me to look into where he's posting and find out why he hates me.

Although I have a feeling that one user here hates me or is angry because of my reply on his comment on a certain DA page.

Me too.  Also, I'd like to apologize to those whom I've ever offended with my posts, sometimes what I meant to say comes out horribly wrong, and sounds totally different, and I end up putting my foot in my mouth.  And if I can't properly post what I meant to say, I'll just not post anything in certain topics at all.  When in doubt, I'll keep my mouth shut.

Not sure about SMF 2.0 but I'm going to assume they can given that on earlier versions of SMF they would be able to (KLA as an example). I'd figure all you have to do though is edit their profile and change that.

If it is like the forum I tried to build

once, it is outright impossible to ignore

staff members. There was an special option

to let users ignore moderators, but it was

rather inefficient as the user would miss warnings

and find him/her/itself banned...

So far I am not using it, but I think it is a nice addition.

Maybe it is a good way cool down, I mean, you add

someone to your ignore list for a day or so and then

remove them, when you have calmed down.

The people I'm ignoring are hanging on by a thread anyways.  One of them is already perma-banned.

I wouldn't use it myself, even if I weren't a moderator. But it's nice to know it is there should someone else ever want to avoid another member they simply are not compatible with.
