Mebbe not, but fighting them like a man will always come out with the same result.

Ignore it.

If you show any signs fear of any kind, this will excite the dog and cause it to get wild and try to break loose of it's leash.  If you ignore it, then all it can do is just stare at you, lick it's chops a few times, may wimper, and may do a few little barks here and there to get your attention.

I'd keep going, but I would be weary. It might ignore me, it might not, so it's safe to be ready to run or try and fight it off if it comes after you.

Qualitative question, poll not needed.

If it's leashed up or contained, ignore the hell out of it.

If it was loose and charging me, I know of a dog that's going to not have anymore eyes. :?

If it can not attack me, just stay away from it's

range, simple.

If it is coming at me... RUN LIKE HECK!,

then get to a higher place as soon as possible.

Problem. Dogs are much, much faster than you.

Your high place better be DAMN close.

I am betting that. Or, like when I was 3

years old, confront the dog. It did not turn out

'very well'...

I'd say something similar to this;

Depends on the situation.  If he's chained and can't hurt me, I'll stay away from it.  If we're on the street, I'll either throw rocks and sticks at him, get into a building or car ASAP, or kick him in the throat (a friend of mine successfully took out a guard dog that way once).

If its gonna attack, Run for safety or if their is no safe place...I go down fighting.

If its harmless, leave it be. Don't wanna pick a fight with something like that.

Another good way I hear is let it have your arm then go for the eyes.

I hear the average settlement for a dog bite in the state of Cali can run about $25,000 ten years ago...probably runs higher now.

Something like this happened to me a long time ago.

I was once again in my sad depressed state, walking down the road to my home. When one of the local dogs got over the fence and charged to attack me.

But I was so mopped up, that i really didn't care....

The thing was biting and clawing at my leg like it was chew toy, and it hurt like hell. But i really did nothing and just stood there. And strangly it stopped, and just sat there staring at me... after 3 minutes just went back to its home.

Animal's have always acted calm after being around for a minute or so. At first our new Cat Beonka was scared sh!tless when i first walked in the room, But after me sitting down and stroking its fur for a minute or so it started puring and began licking my finger's like they were bowls of cream.

And every day since that Cat has been following me like i'm its mother or something... In fact alot of my posts have been interupted lately because she wants me the stroke her fur and play with her.

My friend Nero killed a pitbull with a nailgun once.

It attacked him, no leash, came right into his driveway, towards his garage.

Nero killed it. :D

For me, "A pellet gun in the eye or in the open mouth is sometimes the best ways to 'disable' a dog for a while"

Okay, this post is just creepy. The tone it gives off is so... HAPPY. This isn't unusual for Julius, but in the context of a living animal someone probably loved being MURDERED comes off as, well, a liiiittle psychotic.
