Kid_Cortet
Yeah, neither do I, but you have to be careful how you express your concern because it can hurt other people's feelings. It's all the same with fanart, a lot of it is stuff people don't want to see, but it's still a choice. If there is a rule here saying that such content is not allowed, fair enough, but if it is allowed, then you should respect the wishes of those who wish to see it. I'm just trying to see both sides here, but it seems to be a fiery topic that I'm most likely out of my depth with.i agree...dont get upset because other people may wish to view it.if you dont want to see the art...dont look at it...plain and simple :D
Redeemer
That's exactly what I mean Cortet. But I agree with Vydrach too, valuing characters from a game sometimes means you want them to retain their original roles. And that means they stay friends, or stay enemies, or stay dead or whatever. But that, again, is what fanfiction is about. It's FICTION. Sure, it can make you cringe, but it's all just the dreams and humour of artists who put their thoughts on paper. It's not a big deal, but it can make some people feel quite taken aback, as it's a little far-fetched and it sort of throws the meaning of each character back in your face - in one example - Fox and Wolf. Vy'drach
In other words... BE TACTFUL!!!!Due to the numerous PM's between me and Dermot, I am sure he understands what I actually mean, without me having to overly sugar-coat every message regarding him. I try very hard to be tactful, especially on a medium where tone is non-existent, which can lead to misunderstandings.Yeah, neither do I, but you have to be careful how you express your concern because it can hurt other people's feelings. I'm just trying to see both sides here, but it seems to be a fiery topic that I'm most likely out of my depth with.Thing of it is too, is that I don't have a problem at all with him posting it, just not in a way that I get "eye-raped" with it. And I'm not being one-sided about it, either. The same applies to me, or anyone else, really. There are images and such I have that I find quite interesting and humorous, but I don't post them because some people might be offended. I don't even post them in ways that it would be choice to view them, so as to not offend people who don't know how far some of them could go. These images deal with about everything you could imagine, age, sex, sexuality, race, intelligence, religion, etc etc. I'm not asking him to go so far as not share it, just in a way where it is purely choice to see it, not thrust upon those who don't want to. Especially since, last I had read, it was being made into a rule that you're supposed to do it that way.i agree...dont get upset because other people may wish to view it.if you dont want to see the art...dont look at it...plain and simple Thing is though, it's shared in ways that make it near impossible not to see it, until it is burned into your mind. That's exactly what I mean Cortet. I have posted a fan-fiction, and ahead of it was a large warning saying, "This is rather violent and bloody (though not as much as I wanted, as I can put some of the goriest movies to shame, but I held back to avoid offense), and if you are squemish or bothered by violent situations, please, PLEASE do not read this." Not just posting it, and making people read along fine, then BAM! Graphic spear to the eye, or throat, or a disembowelment etc etc.
Redeemer
Okay Vydrach, I now have no idea what you mean now. Do you feel it's been thrust upon the SFO community? Can I have link and see? I should probably look at them before I continue to discuss in this topic lol.

Redeemer
It's called Rule 34, Cortet. Basically, Rule 34 means that "if it exists, there is a porn of it". And it's true, people really do find something sexual about everything. Google image Rule 34 and you'll see what I mean, but be warned - it's pretty horrific. :/

I actually did that awhile ago, and some of the images are just hilarious (My favourite being the chili pepper). Also, remember Rule 35, "If no porn of it exists, it will very soon."And agreed, Kursed. Some of those images of Krystal that I had the awful misfortune to stumble across would haunt my dreams, if I didn't pull the mental banhammer on them and repress them. *shudders*

Vy'drach
Yeah .I first saw that on my friend's myspace, and funnily enough, there are two different images of that same bounce house, with the same punchline. Second one is closer, and from a perspective to Pikachu's right.
Dermot
*tries to catch up* Wow, what a topic walk.Anyway, if you're still talking about my signature, I PMed DZComposer when I originally unveiled it.Also, I had the impression that the ban on embedding relationship art was temporary and something he absolutely hated applying then, mainly in the aftermath of the Noodle Incident. But that was weeks ago. Sableye
My simple motto is:"People who lives in glass houses should not throw stones."All Im seeing through the words is This side is arguing against this side, and then a catalyst either creates or destroys the supports of arguement.
Redeemer
I wouldn't say it was arguing as such. I'm simply trying to see what both sides are, because I'm confused why this subject raised so much anger in the first place. I personally think it's not that big a deal, but maybe there was something more under the surface. That's what I was trying to find out. It's all rather confusing. Dermot
You all know...when it comes down to it, regardless of how much or how little time I ultimately give the topic, I'm still going to believe Falco is gay. And this isn't just a matter of gaydar or of wanting there to be gay characters. For certain fans, gay Falco is the only Falco. Some people may be horrified with suggestions that he's gay. And there are people who are equally horrified by fans trying to paint him as straight. Whether we're talking about fangirls, fanboys or just fans who have grown to adore him while not believing he's straight, there is some Het Is Ew involved, and that really can't be written off so easily. Because, for a lot of people, straight Falco is just not Falco. So even if this topic becomes lower-key, it's still going to be on someone's mind. I just hope everyone can come to a peace with that. :3 Evidence is the Het Is Ew page itself - someone else wrote that page's principal Star Fox bullet. So, if I stop talking about it so much, I don't want it to be buried permanently. I still reserve the right to bring it up if it seems relevant. I just don't want it to be kindling for Internet Backdraft every single time. I'm never going to convince anyone who has decided to believe otherwise on principle. But there's no need for Fandom Heresy to be at issue. (I facepalmed when I learned that a certain other user was intentionally following me around just to make sure I don't spread "misinformation". This isn't the Spanish Inquisition.) There can be room for Alternative Character Interpretation. Redeemer
It would be nice to wrap up a debate with that last post, haha. Maybe you guys should consider closing this topic or leaving it at Dermot's conclusion, because as subjects get discussed, points get repeated and friendships are broken. As an outsider looking in, I see two different opinions that collide, but can still co-exist. Why do you guys still need to talk about it?  :)
Dermot
I just wanted it to be clear that even if I end up talking about it less, it does not mean I have changed my mind or that I will never bring it up again. I've felt grilled in completely unnecessary ways.Falco wouldn't want us to quarrel. :
Redeemer
Dermot, if you believe something, keep believing it. I think that the situation, from what I can see, has been blown out of proportion and it's caused a heated debate where people have suffered. I don't think anyone's beliefs should be changed, everyone has the right to their own beliefs, but shoving them in the faces of others just adds fuel to the fire. I don't know who shoved what in whoever's face, but please stop the fighting. :(
