You're technically not emailing us :D.  I guess you could let them see the forums (not unchecked of course!) and let them know that everyone actually has a level head and is down to Earth here! :D.

I have to agree. Sure we go off-topic sometimes,

but there are rules and everyone has to follow them.

Let your parents know this is a well regulated site, guarded by adults. It's safe, and we're all very nice people. My parents wouldn't let me on forums either when I was a little girl, but I'm 21 now and I take it upon myself to look after other people. If they have concerns, maybe they can email DZ and talk to him personally?

^Got that right.

Closely watched over by the government and military responsible people who only aim towards the betterment of the site and community.

This.  If a similar occurrence happened on the KLA or other sites that I mod I'd personally be obligated to inform the parents about the "safety factor" of the website, being truthful of course.

Do what your parents say. When you're older, you can debate them. For now, you should obey them.

Ordinarily I'd be sympathetic to your problem, but considering how you treated me via PM, now I don't care.

What's up with everyone's parents? I mean, no one here will abuse you in any way.

agreed, i think the issue is the media displaying predators over the use of the internet, worried for their kids safety and all

Blame the state of the world.

I wouldn't say the world, doesn't seem to be to much about that up here in the USians Top Hat, my parents don't seem to be worried about my and mah sisters online interactions, an I haven't seen much about it on the news, other then Parents said something about limiting how much I play shooters cause they where saying on the news they desesatise the youngins. I hardly play any shooters, and when I do it's a super cartoony Team Fortress 2...

And listen to Mr.K He holds wise words on this.

Come on guys, let's not get off topic. This is important to falconman, and I totally support him. My dad was like that with me, he was very possessive and stuff. I never got into any trouble, and the people I met have become life-long friends. falconman, I'll be happy to represent you to your parents if no one else will. I full understand your situation. :)

Assuming you're between 14-18, obey your parents. Honestly, right now, you really don't have the means to go against them. When you hit 18-21 then go at it, but in reasonable ways. Don't just say fuck you i do what i want because that NEVER works. Trust me. I was there.

Yeah, it's good to obey your parents but at the same time, this is the age of technology and the internet is widely used. I believe it's everyone's right to escape from the stresses of real life and just talk to nice people on a forum about your favourite game. I retreated to Zelda forums because I was being bullied, when I was 14. And now all my friends from there are still all talking and hanging out on my forum today, we're all very close. My dad was very strict with me, I wasn't allowed to play any games for more than an hour a day and he hated computers. Not because of people, but just because he wasn't used to them.

I agree with Sylum, falconman, obey your parents but it may be worth trying to reason with them and come to a happy medium. Maybe only go online once you've done all your chores and homework, but if they say no and it's final, don't get angry. When you're older you can get your own computer and have less restrictions. :)

Guest Scorpion03

I think once ure parents havea  look at the forums and realise theres no risk at all then they should be cool with it, my parents used to be like that with my little brother, but i sold security programs for computers for a living while i was in uni, before i became a scientist, and i showed them how little the risks are, and how perfectly safe sites like this are. But parents worry, it is what they tend to do best... show them that there r no risks and there is unlikely to be a problem... and u cud stop emailing strangers... that would probably make them happier

Won't work. I'm guessing it's america, and thus fueled by a combination of pizza and paranoia. As this works, anyone nasty is a badguy, anyone nice is REALLY bad guy. Kind of like the woman stuation in Britian.

What do you mean? I opened with a joke, but made my point that trying to convince your pairents is a waste of time if they have been paranoided.

The whole pizza and paranoia thing could be seen as offensive. Not every one has a sophisticated sense of humour like you do. :P

Of course, I got the joke immediately. :3

Edit: Oh yeah, and the woman thing. That upset me. :P
