SF643D and the canon

Considering that a good chunk of the canon was established by SF64, how should we handle it if they made some changes? Like adding Krystal?  :katt: or  :pinkkatt: ? Brown Bill or Gray Bill? Andross' motivation (I'm thinking Krystal's suggestion in SFC)? This could lead to some nasty retcons.

As one of the 5 people that actually cares about the SF canon, I must admit I am a little worried.

Depends on how it mixes with the current canon. eg. Adding Krystal would break it, so bin it. If it expands, use it. If it's just a retelling, I say it's a reboot to be used unless it's not.

If you're wondering, I've had to deal with this exact problem numberous times thanks to being a Resident Evil fan.

I'd think it would be consistent with the original. They may add the extra characters (i.e Krystal) in the multiplayer so it wouldn't threaten the storyline.

Expanded Andross backstory? Hell yes.

Nonpink Katt?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......

I just want it to be the original, maybe with some variations THAT DO NOT INVOLVE THE CHARACTERS OR STORY. :D.  (Thank gosh I don't have to control the Arwing with that damn stylus, ANALOG NUB FTW!! :D.)

Well, now it is 6, with me.

As I said in another post,

while I am happy for the fact

that a new Star Fox is coming,

I can not help but feel quite worried

on how it will affect the canon.

I mean, what if Nintendo suddendly

decides to make this new a re-start? O_o

I meant, Pink Katt, and Andross backstory

seem good ideas, but I do NOT want to

see Krystal go away.

I say they should just keep it as a remake, and not include it in the canon, like that other horrendous piece of crap that is the only other portable "game."

But trouble is, we do not know

when the next 'sudden attack of

epicness/uber-stupidity' is coming

to Nintendo. Maybe it replaces graphically

SF64 with minor canon data or nothing changed,

maybe it is a complete restart. Maybe it adds

extra stuff...  :|

As far as the actual main storyline, I imagine it will be the same, just better graphics, maybe slightly altered character models. I would like to see the addition of characters from other SF games added as playable unlocks, after beating the game and such, maybe ones in multiplayer. These wouldn't affect cannon, but would be nice for everyone, as Krystal fans get Krystal, and so such.

That would be nice, and a safe step

towards making Star Fox a more "regular"

franchise, I think.  :)

And unlockables are often fancy nice stuff.

...

Oh, and I found my post:

The trouble I allways had with remakes is how/if they affect

the canon. For example, let's say they release this new game

and screw up everything behaind? :| O-kay, I am just eXagerating3.

Maybe Krystal will make an appearance?

Maybe this singnals that Star Fox will 'return to it's root's?

While on one side I am simply happy for the

fact that there is NEW STAR FOX on the works,

I am not sure how this will affect the future of the

series.

Oh well, I should better just forget all of that

and think about the fact that a new SF game

WILL be there when the system is released. :)

As much as I like Star Fox, I'm not buying their shitty 3DS to play it.

With all respect, how you know it is

bad if you did not even try it?

It looks a lot better to me.

Handheld at it's best, without

the disadvantages (and failures)

of the DS. The analog stick will be

a very welcome addition, replacing

that accursed stylus.

Because it's "3D" we don't need 3D games and we don't need fitness games. What's this? gamers don't like 3D? let's make the 3DS LLOLOLOLOL.

Well, Star Fox IS 3D. Saying

'we don't need 3D games' is much

like saying "we don't need a new Star Fox".

And I think exactly the opposite. Sure, 2D is nice,

but Star Fox NEEDS it's 3D to be great.

Hey.

Geuss what.

I'm a gamer. I like 3D. BOOM THERE GOES YOUR ARGUEMENT.

Anyway, I could care less for most of the canon right now. If SF643D has to rewrite the entire franchise, well, it can really only be for the better. Resident Evil's remake on the Gamecube one-upped the original in every way. And how the heck can a game thats set before Krystal can do something to erase her. You all are some kind of paranoid.

I dont really like the fact that they're redooing it.

I'd like to see it in 3D though, sounds cool.

At the main site http://e3.nintendo.com/3ds/ under videos, they have first impressions/reactions.  Judging by some of these reactions, I'd say that people are blown away by the technology.

^^^and I presume you have never watched "Back to the Future"??? (oh sure, what can going to the past and interacting with your relatives and some guy you hate so much do to you?)

/joke

The reason the Krystal fans are concerned is because they are worried that Nintendo will literally "Go back to it's games roots" and rewrite the stories behind them. In this case SF 64. On second thought, on the other hand, if Nintendo were to change the story of SF by adding Krystal in "SF 64 3DS", we might potentially have a replacement for Fara in Krystal.

:krystal: = :fox: girlfriend....and completely wipe away the old comics from any cannon whatsoever, even though they already did for the most part. (but that's taking it to extremes)

We agree on this.

Um, right, I am being paranoid I guess.

Maybe it is the side effect of such long intervals

between each Star Fox game. :|

Still, I just can not help but feel like that.

I'm actually kinda sure that the majority would support something like this once they get to play it for the first time :D

The majority DOES support it,

Mr. Foxer. Of course, if you do

not count like over 90% of the

people as 'majority', then no,

nobody supports it.

"Trolls are strong.

Ents are STRONGER."

Yeah, that is what I think.

The 3DS seems to have been made

with the intention of NOT repeating the

failures in the DS. I wholeartedly support

the analog stick over that acursed stylus.
