When all your plot comes from comic books of dubious canonity, that's not saying alot. Yes, Krystal changed the Western fandom forever. No, I really don't like it (I was familar with the old fandom too). But taking the hate out on the character isn't going to make it better. Hate the fanboys for being 90% narrow minded teenage prats.

I take a third route.  I'm a Japanese-style fan.  I love Falco, Slippy, Panther and Leon, Wolf, etc. :3 They survive with Krystal around, as I've learned to do - they just either ignore her or stuff her in a fridge (metaphorically). :3 They don't talk about her 24/7.  That's probably the difference in my situation - everyone around me keeps talking about Krystal, and I just want her to be forgotten forever all around, so I drop bombs like "Krystal was the single worst thing to happen to the entire Star Fox franchise..." every several days or couple of weeks or so. :lol:

Well dropping bombs isn't going to help your situation at all. Ignore the claims, and talk about the characters you do like.

Krystal has done nothing positive or negative for the good of the franchise. She has not drastically altered the story, the characters behaviors, or the focus of the central plot (ha, plot in Starfox) in any way, for good or bad. She is just there. Just.... there. You just mad becase she throws a very crude and uninspired wrench into your gay interests in Starfox, and because she has a metric craptop of undeserved fanboys.

Holding petty vengeance fetishes against a character in a vidya franchise is really silly.

I don't have to read Tvtropes to understand where you are coming from.  I was merely agreeing with Robert's POV.  I am well aware of the affects Krystal has had on the fandom and I've been a Star Fox fan for almost as long as you have.  I DO think however you are blowing the "Krystal ruined everyone" way out of proportion.  Yes, Krystal might have caused some people to leave, but she also caused a heck of a lot more people to be fans of series as well.  Yes, she might be a divisive point in the community but IMO she has done more good then harm in attracting new fans who also happen to enjoy the games.  You're entitled to your extremity of a viewpoint and I'm entitled to mine, which I believe is more factually sound because I don't strictly rely on ONLY a Japanese interpretation of Krystal and I actually...you know...try to view the thing from a worldwide perspective as well

Whoa, Dermot, relax man. We're all acquaintances friends here. I don't mind people hating on other characters, I just wish they'd throw some LEGITIMATE reasons for it. Like, if Krystal was an asshole or something. Half the fandom might have been going "BOO KRYSTAL" back in 2002, but that means the other half was going "YAY KRYSTAL". The fanbase is broken not because of just Krystal, but because of all the issues surrounding Adventures as a whole. The game being too short, the game being too half-baked Zeldaesque, the game being too shoehorned, the game being an underwheling dissapointment that sold entirely on hype. If anything, Krystal is some bizarre sort of victim of it all, shoehorned out of her role from an N64 game to being a cardboard love interest who lacks the love and the interest parts, able only to be poorly written differently each time she shows up in a game, while thousands of teenage furries with no lives masturbate to her graven image.

Yes, the base is broken, but it isn't JUST Krystal's fault, and the franchise is NOT "Krystalland". If you dislike a character, backup your arguement with more than just "SHE RUINED STARFOX FOREVER AND NEEDS TO GO AWAY" while flailing your arms around wishing it was still 1995. You have the right to dislike what you want, but be stupid about it and you will warrant logical wrath.

I do the same to the baseless Panther haters.

This reminds me...of when we discussed that Rolling Stone top 20 list of most annoying songs.  The thing is, most of those songs were wildly popular when they came out.  What made them the most annoying songs was that you kept hearing them repeatedly, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, sometimes even month after month, and it becomes intolerable after awhile.

It's not the characters we loathe.  It's the nonstop party thrown for them.  Even if Krystal disappeared permanently, you cannot undo what has been done in fanbase creation.  It reminds me of why Queen Mary I of England wanted to execute Lady Jane Grey - because of what she symbolized and the factions divided by her, and not because anyone actually hated her.

As for bold statements, always take a moment to make sure what you say won't come off wrong. Its good to be bold, but tact and boldness need not to be seperate. In fact, they are quite good allies.
