Wes Posted March 9, 2011 Share Posted March 9, 2011 It's been around 6 months since I've played Star Fox 64, so hopefully I can still remember why I hated some of the levels. Aquas is definitely the worst of all the stages in my opinion. It's poorly designed, slow, and laggy. I like the concept of the Bluemarine, but the level it's featured in sucks. Onto Sector Z, it's a boring map, but your teammates actually help you, however when you play on the hard path, your teammates specifically Katt, help too much. I can never destroy one of the missles before she does. Which results in me not getting my award. The stage is simple when you take the easy path. I don't like Solar, there's not much to hate about it other than the fact that it's boring, but you do learn an important fact about the Lylat universe, babies can take temperatures over 9000 degrees :o Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The first time I played through it, I was taken off guard by the part when the rocks start falling on your head after you encounter the electrified-jellyfish-things . I totally didn't saw them coming ( I mean, even when they were supposed to be on-screen ) and I almost didn't saw them even when I got hit. ( Okay, Slippy screams something on the lines of "Watch out Fox!" but he didn't said from what ). babies can take temperatures over 9000 degrees LMAO. Not only do the ships go suicidal on you, not only do they crash into your Arwing and deal massive damage, but they chip your wings. Say bye-bye to those blue lasers. My least favorite stage would still be Aquas, as I can't see very well anyway, and then the oyster boss always takes me forever to beat. I usually take out the spawners on top, the pilons second, at least 1 turret third and I Mash the laser and missile together in the end. It's easy. As for me, VENOM EASY PATH! ON EXPERT! I mean, DAMN, there's so much shit going around you in circles (your teammates, your friend, your friend's teammates, baddies, supply-boxes) in both directions; "The Carousel of Death"! I can't beat the level with 'both' wings intact... or my sanity. Plus, the level is just really bland and boring; grey and poopish colors as far as the eye can (unfortunately) see. All-range mode is also pretty uneventful here since you're only getting the same enemies spat out at you by the most-generic mothership ever. But nothing compares to the barrage of annoying quotes you get for events beyond your control. "Get out of my way!", "Watch where you're flyin'!", "Hey, what's the big idea?!" "Fox, that was one of ours!", "Hey, see if I help you again!" ... RRRRRAAGFADSCLJUIBGASJMK!1!! I really hope the NPCs in Star Fox 64 3D are a bit more... not that... Aquas, Titania and Solar are... tolerable; I don't think they deserve the rep they have. ...Hey, shootin' Gigan's lava cousin on the sun was cool! Ghieri Posted June 23, 2011 Share Posted June 23, 2011 I honestly don't hate or truly dislike any level in SF64. Aquas, Solar, Titania... I think they all help creating a rich and diverse experience. I obviously like some levels more than others, so if I had to choose my least favorite level in the game, I would probably choose Sector Y, it just feels a bit bland when compared to similar levels like Area 6, Sector X or even Meteo, and the final boss is way too easy and uninspired IMO. But like I said, I don't hate the level, I don't even think it's a bad level, just not as interesting or as exciting as other levels (especially because there are more and -IMO- better levels that are similar to Sector Y). On a positive note, the quotes of the final boss always make me smile: "Don't party just yet", "I'm comin' for ya!", "Cocky little freaks!".... :P Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, the core can be considered the boss because those blue lasers fill the entire screen and do a helluva lot of damage. My absolute worst level had to be Solar. Thankfully you stopped taking damage when you reached 1% hp but at that point anything you touch can kill you. By the boss battle (Vulcain) there weren't many supply rings, and of course you kept on taking damage trying to kill this guy! Of course eventually some rocks do come but for a long time there was nothing. Trying to play this level on Expert Mode is probably a lot harder, but I wouldn't know because every time I do expert mode I either: A) Go through Sector Y and get to Aquas, meaning there is no possible way to play Solar B) Change Course and head for Sector X I avoid Solar like the plague. Probably after that would be Sector Z. I will skip that mission and head to Macbeth first, shoot the switchers and go to Area 6. Was way too slow, and the final boss after a certain point was just spam the barrel roll button, laser and bomb buttons, and stay aimed at the center eye thing. This isnt not a good boss fight!
