Guest Coyote
You're using a metaphor--inappropriately. A building will be destroyed by C4 -- an artist will not. If the artist is actually an artist' date=' they will listen and improve upon themselves.[/quote'] I'm afraid I do not agree. For one, the metaphor was intended to be humorous. Second, it is used appropriately. C4 will destroy a building physically just as hurtful comments can destroy a person emotionally. My point was that being overly critical isn't helping anyone. It never has and it never will on its own. Now, yes, after hearing a critique, a person can choose to improve himself; but I say that anything that risks discouraging someone, even a bit, should be kept to oneself or at least tailored with tact. I've seen too many people stop doing what they love because someone was overly cruel and couldn't keep their negative comments to themselves or present them in such a way that they were constructive and not destructive. Now you can say "TRUE artists would never give up!" but that's really a load of crap. All I was trying to say is that it's more important to be considerate of people's emotions than to fulfill some self-generated desire to decalre oneself such an authority on the subject that they must "correct" everyone else. In the end, your "critique" is nothing more than your own opinion. What you consider bad, others may consider gold. What you consider needing a change might be just fine as it is. And apparently, people do like it. Again, your critique is your opinion just as our compliments are ours. Just because you feel something needs to be changed doesn't mean it does. Likewise, simply because we like something doesn't mean it's perfect. All I was trying to say is, temper your comments with a little tact and consideration. It is good that you desire to help improve others; it would be better if you did so by telling people what they do well instead of only saying what they do not do well. If that's your way of helping, I hope I don't get on your bad side. Perhaps you did not mean it as this came out, but especially with "That's all I can say" it makes it sound as though he's done nothing very well, and all you notice are the things you critiqued. Had you said "I beieve you draw well, but perhaps if you worked on these areas . . ." rather than just jumping right into the negatives, it would have come across a little better. Again, all I'm asking is to be a little considerate of how other people will take your comments. We don't need to start a flame war here, just have a little respect for each other. Wow, and in the time it took me to write this, we had another war start . . . let's all cool off people. Thanks FL for trying to inject some humour into all this! That was pretty funny, if somewhat "eye for an eye."
XG Fox
DAMMIT, I take a break from the forum for a few hours to play video games and look what happens, IN MY THREAD NO LESS!!!! FL, you should know better, YOU'RE A MOD AT AL!!!!! I can't believe you would answer to someone in such a rude way. Don't start a flame war over this, it's just not worth it. Come ON, guys, it's just ARTWORK. And video game scores, it's not like your life depends on it. Mine for sure as heck doesn't. Also, I'd like to inform everyone that Dashster wanted me to tell you that he has left SF-O FOR GOOD. That is all. Wow' date=' and in the time it took me to write this, we had another war start . . . let's all cool off people. Thanks FL for trying to inject some humour into all this! That was pretty funny, if somewhat "eye for an eye."[/quote'] Humerous, but also OFFENSIVE. Dashster didn't find it funny in the least.

XG Fox
Dashster, this one's for you. Reposting pic. It's about time you all learned the true story behind this picture. There was a flame war on SF-O a while back over an ARTWORK topic. Ironic, yes? In the end, TWO members ended up leaving. One came back, he's here occasionally. I did this picture in commemoration of that, hadn't finished it by the time that member came back, but I decided to anyway. But the significant symbolic meaning behind this picture is this: THAT'S NOT AN ARWING UP THERE. Those two members were Doom Fox and Miyu. Doom once did an AWESOME 3d render of Miyu's ship, THAT'S WHAT IT IS, contrary to popular belief. The ship symbolizes them leaving. Doom Fox is the one that came back and is here occasionally. Miyu's his sis. That small flame war was over Miyu's artwork topic and her artwork being edited by someone else. And the fox? Me, and how I felt about the event. Because I felt that it was partially my fault. In that case it wasn't, but I still had a heavy veil of guilt for a while after. And now I dedicate this post to Dashster. He's a great guy to talk to, and I hold absolutely no hard feelings against him for anything he has ever said to me. We share many of the same interests, namely Starfox and F-Zero, and it even turns out that we're both interested in radio control stuff. In conclusion, I say this: Wherever you will go, Dashster, and whatever you will do, Godspeed.
Guest Coyote
lol'd Heh, you're right. This entire debate is rather laughable and it lost us two members . . . and for what cause? For whatever part I played, I apologize. It was only with the best intentions that I got involved in the first place. But like they say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." So, for my involvement, I am deeply sorry. I just . . . want so much to quell dissent where I find it and to protect others . . . sometimes, I guess I inadvertently make things worse. Maybe it's time I headed out for good too . . . but for now, I'll just stick to my corner of the Artwork section.

james mccloud
gosh.... i guess i havent been on in awhile... jeez guys im sorry everything that happened. i fell like its partially my fault but i dont know why... i jus wanna say that these fights are tearing up the forum and i also wanna ask that NO ONE LEAVE... please dont leave guys. i mean, we have good times and bad but we get through it. its not something to leave for. if youve lost interest in this forum or starfox itself, thats one thing, but to leave for something someone said, thats not how its supposed to be here. maybe if there were more MODS (Aaron!!!) we would be better off. I will never leave. I might be off for long periods at a time, but i will never ever leave. Whoo... long post. sorry i took up space but i had to say somehting. now back on-topic. xG lets see more of those drawings!

I'm leaving for Minnesota in like, 4 days... so you probably won't be seeing too much. I'll see if I can get a lot of scanning done tomorrow, so I can leave you guys with something to stare at.
Guest Coyote
Agreed, James. Ive done a lot of thinking about what happened yesterday, and Ive realized that Im not to blame unless its become a crime to take up for somebody. I dont think we had a victim yesterday, but a whole lot of people wanted that role. XG, I admire you for taking Dashs comments so well. A few of them were more than a little curt. Anyway, Im here for the long haul and no silly little one-time arguments gonna get rid of me so easily. Now, back on topic, I love that picture XG. Exquisite work with the fur, hair, and tail. I like the way you did the tears as well, reminds me of the flashing star animation from old SNES games like Chrono Trigger. Its also a picture that produces a definite emotion. I for one, can almost see it in motion, the wind tossing the fur and hair as the shadow of the starship disappears into a sea of twinkling stars. Beautiful and poignant. XG Fox
Ever heard the saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" or something like that... XG Fox
Didn't get the scanning done... BUT, here's something to stare at! OMFG, which one's cuter? To me, the one on the right. And also, not much progress here, but here's an update pic: And a little Starfox logo I screwed around with... made it into the Pulsar Foxes' logo! (enlarged so you can actually SEE the darn thing)
EvolutionSFox
XG, the middle one is cuter but they all three look like sisters! Especially Krystal and Alexia... Hey, what is Alexia's fur color? Blue, Light blue, Navy blue, Cobalt? XD
XG Fox
Actually, I'm not entirely sure yet. I'll be experimenting with it, but I'm thinking a mix of brown and blue... not sure though.
