Jay Naylor's Better Days

Asper Sarnoff posted a link to a page of this comic in the Love Life Talk thread, and other people had mentioned they had read it, so I thought would go ahead and talk about it here.

The comic is called Better Days by Jay Naylor. There is a sequel comic called Original Life, but it would be better if you read Better Days first for small details to make sense, though Original Life is a lot less serious than Better Days as it follows the characters' children.

The comic is of a furry nature, and starts out innocent, and it retains a light comical feel throughout the comic, following two fraternal twin cats from childhood all the way up to college life. As it goes on, some very serious tones emerge, family problems, religion, slight political undertones, and sexuality, though nothing overly explicit is ever shown. For those of you who would like to take a look at this comic, go ahead and read up! As long as you aren't offended by the subject matter, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Here is the first page of the comic. http://www.jaynaylor.com/betterdays/archives/2003/04/post-2.html

WARNING! There is other content on Naylor's site that is of a pornographic nature, though it is separated into it's own part of the site. You would have to willingly access that part of the site to find it, but you have been warned.

Fisk's hard right winged political stance (which mirror's Jay Naylors) kind of pissed off a lot of individuals, mainly furries who mostly have more liberal views.  Usually politics of this nature shouldn't be put in web comics.  Also, the incest section of the comic was completely uncalled for. :(  Despite this I otherwise LOVE the comic, it's very well done and I believe it's one of the most popular furry online web comics in history. :)

And most of that is on a pay as you go basis.  It's sad though to see good artists such as him spend all his time drawing yiff, even though that's where the big bucks are among furry artists these days.

I've been following the comic for about 3 years now, good stuff. Like User said, it's a shame he doesn't spend more time working on the comic instead of yiff. However, the man needs to make money somehow. And for the quality of the comic, 2 updates per week is good.

Awesome comic, quite stirring in many ways, and the characters seem quite real. I also have to ask, what is everyone's favourite character and favourite.... situation in this comic.

My favourite character would have to be Lucy, and my favourite scenario would have to be what happened with Nikki's dad (don't want to spoil it for anyone that didn't read it). People like him don't deserve to live, or a quick death, either.

A little sidetrack here, but I've always found it odd that people from the US, and now Canada in this case, view liberalism as an opposite to right wing political views. Blink-2.gif Perhaps it's just because I'm from a in comparison very socialistic country, but here, liberalism has always been asociated with right wing politics.

Isnt this the one that is set in the 80s?

Well, it goes over quite a a long time, but in the start it's probably the early 80's, or late 70's it is meant to be set in.

My favorite is Fisk himself, and the favorite situation was chapter 19, during the party they set up for that dog couple. "Stripper youst!" and "The penis spoke, and it was wise!"Laugh.gif

My favorite character would have to be Fisk and Tommy. I just like those guys.

My favorite scene........... had to have been when they did the role play! That was pretty hilarious. My favorite serious scene, would have to be when Fisk goes after his cousin Persia when she disappears.

Over here in North America (mainly in the U.S. though) we like to view you guys from Europe as evil socialists :P j/k

But really, liberalism coinciding with right winged politics? :o  That's the first I've heard of something like that but I guess it shouldn't surprise me.  Liberals in Canada are in the middle on our political spectrum but would be considered left winged in the United States.  Since most of Europe is socialist (further on the left) it makes sense that liberal views would be considered more conservative.

Then again, I've never been to Europe :)

No offence taken.Smile-2.gif I find it to be to left wing for my own taste myself, and I've long been considering moving over the ocean to either the US or Canada. Leans toward the later now.

If one look into it a bit, liberalism embraces such thoughts as free trade and capitalism. The governement itself stay away from babysitting us all the time, and let us have the freedom to make our own decisions on where to buy stuff and favours. That sounds quite a far bit from far-left, communism. The rightmost large party here, the "progressparty", describes itself as a liberalistic, capitalistic party.

I'd classify myself as far righter by Norwegian standards, a tad right off center in Canada, and actually a hint of left wing in the US.

Okay, now I've moved quite far off topic.XD-2.gif
