Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

well, they finally announced it at e3 this year.  I thought it definitely did not live up to my expectations.  I was hoping for a huge update to twilight princess like graphics, but instead they ended up doing a cross between TP and WW. It will probably be a good game, but I'm not as exited for it as I was hoping I would be.

thoughts or comments?

I remember seeing this. It looks alot more colorful than twilight princess.

I believe there is a thread for this already.....although it's not called Skyward Sword, it's called "Oh Sweet Miyamoto". So I don't really blame you.

Might I suggest the topics be merged?

YOU DON'T JUDGE GAMES BY THEIR GRAPHICS!!! I HATE it when people do that. It gets me really Ped.

Do some research. Miyamoto said he wanted it to look like a "Painting come to life."

no need to yell, and I understand and have already read what miyamoto wants.  I just don't really like that graphical style for a zelda game as much.  I'm not saying it will be a terrible game, in fact I'm sure it will be a great game.  I just think this kind of style is leading them even farther away from the hardcore gamer. (seeing as zelda was one of the few titles that would appeal to hardcore gamers)

OOOOHHHH!! Hardcore gamers. I see. So hardcore gamers won't play games with colorful graphics. Gotcha.

not exactly what I was saying.  I'm not going to start an argument over this, but it's just my opinion that TP graphics would be more beautiful.

It's more about tastes, I'd rather see a zelda with Twilight princess graphics than WW ones. However, the style is mixed, and I'm starting to get attracted by it. Hopefully they will keep tunning it up.

I see where your coming from, but I think the folks who have stuck with Nintendo over the years will enjoy a new Zelda game. Colorfull or not.

I see both sides of the issue here and I agree with both. XD

Fact is....I was a little disapointed to see the art style they were going for. TP's realistic style kicked so much ass that I was hoping that's what we'd see again. But the new style has grown on me a bit and even if it didn't I'm still not gonna let myself be convinced that the Zelda game would be worst off for it.

Wind Waker's style was nice. I liked the Cell Shading even if some people didn't. But even those people that didn't admitted WW was a pretty kickass game, which in short it was. So basically we just have to wait and see. I personally am a little more excited for the OoT remake for the 3DS, but I'm looking forward to Skyward Sword.

Realistic Sword Play......? O_o

Are you by chance thinking of Metal Gear Solid Rising? :?

realistic sword play as in being able to move your sword in any direction.  (sorry it's not exactly "realistic sword play" rather than "realistic sword movement")

I would kill for actual realistic sword play with intelligent sword wielding enemies that would actually give you a challenge fighting lol

Well in the E3 Demonstration Link's sword was raised in the air and got power, so... *shrug*

I'm a bit disappointed about the graphical style that was chosen, we have so many cartoony-style Zelda games out there (and even though the N64 games were meant to be realistic, the primitive 3D graphics make the games look more on the cartoony side), it would be nice to have another realistic Zelda entry. To me, their attempt to blend the style of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess just does not mesh well at all. I know the reasons why they did it- the controls rely on the actions of the enemy, and it was harder for players to notice those small but important gameplay details with realistic graphics, so Shiggy decided on "Impressionist Painting" style of graphics, but still...

I can only hope that all this hype about the innovative controls doesn't mean that everything else about the game was kicked to the curb while they focused on that.

Eh, I'd say I like Twilight Princess's graphics better. But this one has at least a blend to it. I guess I'm neutral but I'll definitely be getting it when it comes out.
