Soul Mates?

Sorry if this topic is too close to this one: http://forums.starfox-online.net/index.php?topic=7413.0 But it has got me thinking, and I'd like to ask: Do you believe in soul mates? That there is only one person in the world for every one, and if you lose that person, that's it?

Personally, I don't think that we only have one chance at love. I think that we have a preference to certain personality types, and so, maybe there is only one person that fist us best, but there has to be at least a decently sized group that has the type of personality/physicality type that we want.

Alright, I'm going to let this topic go around, however, if it gets too similar with the other topic, I'll have to lock one.

On topic: This is a tricky subject, soulmates sound a little bit too unfair, I mean, only one person?, I would believe there's a handful of people out there that could make chemistry with you, not just one.

I believe in soul mates. However, doesn't meant to say they're meant to be romantically linked. I think best friends can be soul mates. You just know when you click, and it can be completely friend-based.

Mhmn, that makes sense. But I've "clicked" with several people in my life, and they are all great friends. So, does that mean that you can have a buncha soul mates?

That's kinda what i think. I mean, there can't be a whole buncha ppl with the things that you are looking for in a partner, but there can't be only one.

Of course, the field narrows a bunch if you believe in auras and crap like that. I mean, there are some ppl that, not matter how nice they are, there is just something about them that puts u on edge.

I don't think so, it's a special kind of clicking you only recognise when you do it. I click that way with my boyfriend, I've never felt so close to anyone in my life, ever.

I'm with you on this. For details see other thread.

I disagree with the concept of "one true soul mate" because the soul mate concept is often used as an excuse for divorce. People who are unhappy in their marriage sometimes claim that they did not marry their soul mate and therefore should divorce and begin the search for their true soul mate.

Yes, but:

^ This.  Your soul mate is who you make it out to be.  "Home is where you make it."

I havent seen the other thread, so my input is just going to be on this one... My belief is that of the red strings of fate.  Strings that tie you to the one you love, however unlike the japanese (who originally had this idea) I feel there is no reason that this should lead to just one person. Therefore it should be possible to have 'multiple' soul mates, however only one your ever likely to meet and settle down with (if your lucky). The rest could well be friends or people you are fated to meet at some point which will have an impact on your life.

i beilve there are people you are meant to meet but love is something you have to forge your self. most people understand the love is not free pain and sacrifice are it's cost

With you there. There are surely severaly out there I could have clicked with, but I've only found one so far, and I don't think I'll find someone better anytime soon. The odds are really, really bad.
