Needless to say, I was very obese (BMI about 35) and was not in shape at all.However, my family started to get more health-conscious and we joined a gym. That, combined with wanting to join the Navy with the possibility of getting kicked out of the house immediately after graduation if I am not doing anything by then (no job, not in Navy, not in college, etc) caused me to lose weight drastically. Currently I am sitting at a plateau of 180 (6 pounds under the max limit for the Navy for my height) and I can now run about five miles without stopping.
