rainfyre66
I want to start reading some manga and comics, and would like your guys' recommendations. I'm looking more towards fantasy, superheroish, or sci-fi ones. (Not really interested in any that are uber realistic/sexual. A little realism is okay though.) (And you can jokingly say Sailor Moon, but truth is, I want to read it, I used to like that show when I was younger!)
conaly
Hi,maybe the Legend Of Zelda mangas by Akira Himekawa? Many people say they are really good. I've read only the Ocarina Of Time mangas (both parts). It is quite good, especially if you have played the games.Yesterday I ordered the Oracle of Ages and Oracle Of Seasons mangas - they arrived just a few minutes ago XDShakugan no Shana must be very good, too. I haven't read it so far, but I watched both seasons of the anime. It was one of the best animes I've ever seen. It was dramatic, enthralling, exciting and Shana looks really cute ^_^
Eagle Kammback
It is hard to find, but if you can, Albedo Anthropomorphics is a great comic (though you may be better off finding Command Review)Deadpool, hilariously awesomeHot Rod CARtoons
Kid_Cortet
Pokemon Adventures is actually pretty good....it isnt all kiddy stuff like the anime portrays, there is a seemingly dark side to it....but i would suggest the internet version over the hold-in-hand version....for instancein once scene in the hold-in-hand version tell a Rydon to "Crush them!"in the internet version......he instructs it to "Kill them!" you USED to be able to find it on mangafox (best source to read anime online) but now you have to search for it -_-;;If i find the link to a full version to them.....ill edit this postEDIT: Here ya goscroll to the bottom for the first pageĀ
Vy'drach
Dark Horse Comics Aliens vs. Predator, very nicely done comic, not OVERLY gory (though it's there), with a decent plot and very nice action. It's what started the whole AvP franchise. I have read my copies of it several times.
Sabre
My advice, pick a theme you like and buy that. I really like The Austounding Wolfman, it's about a man who becomes cursed by werewolf, rather then sit and mope about it, he becomes a super hero.I also like Green Lanturn Corps. It's the concept of super heroes as space police.
Guest Para Astaroth
I never really read but I've read ONE manga and it was Buso Renkin. Only ten volumes that felt like it was rushed too much
Sarita
Read Sailor Moon. Seriously. It's awesome. I have some of it, though I'm missing 4 volumes. ):If you like Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew and Magical Knights Reyarth are in the same vein. (I've never read MKR so I don't know anything about it, just that it's by CLAMP and they're an amazing team, but Tokyo Mew Mew was good, there are also two volumes of a "second season" for it, with the subtitle A la mode)On the note of CLAMP, Chobits was excellent. Guest Julius Quasar
I always like "Ghost in the Shell", though "Bleach" ain't without its charm, neither is "Cowboy Bebop".
Dublinthefox
I'm into Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter X Hunter, and Naruto. I'M AN OTAKU!!!!
Guest Scorpion03
Never got into ghost in the shell... it got a little too philosophical in places. Tsubasa or XXXHolic are good, anything by clamp tends to be really well thought out. Code Geass Lelouch of the rebellion is also a really good one. Or if your after something a bit away from the norm, you could always try spice and wolf.
Redeemer
The Legend of Zelda mangas are good, so are the Death Notes, Diablo and Escaflowne. I found a collection of Ju-On, which is a horror manga about The Ring. Yes, the American movie of that was awful but the Japanese story is much, much better. :

Vy'drach
School Rumble. An adorable romantic comedy; it's really nostalgic for me, but I'll warn you about episode 12. ;DIs that the, "Have you seen one?" episode, or is it the one where Eri walks in on Harima? Guest Scorpion03
Get ready for an explosion. o3oFirst of all, I recommend my favorite anime/webcomic manga, Axis Powers Hetalia. It's a humorous take on history in which all the countries are personified. It's got a lot of BL, though, so if you're not a yaoi fan you may want to steer clear.Hare + Guu. It's the first anime I ever watched, and it's very cute and funny. It's pretty random, though, but it has a great story.Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicles. A fairly tame anime/manga compared to others. Great artwork, and a very interesting story. A bit fluffy at some parts through.XxXHolic. Don't be worried by the title. It's a very paranormal/magic oriented anime, and it can really make you think.Azumanga Daioh. A slice-of-life school anime. It's okay, though I never finished watching it.If you're into mainstream anime (that's not me :T) you can try Bleach, though it's insanely long and has been growing steadily more confusing. But that's just my opinion;;;Ouran Highschool Host Club. A romantic comedy--you can tell by the title. Though there's a fair amount of gender-jokes and crossdressing, it's definitely a good one.Death Note. Very violent mystery, but it just blows your mind.K-ON! I'm in the middle of watching it, but it's an adorable highschool anime about 4 girls who start a band. Has some hinted yuri, though.Elfen Lied. I'll warn you ahead of time about the intense nudity and gore--but the story is so tragic and sad...I swear, this is one of the most depressing animes I have seen. Highly recommended if you don't mind the explicit content.Higurashi: When They Cry. A psychological murder mystery based off the video game. It starts off kinda mild and hokey, but it will blow your mind.HunterxHunter. A classic, though maybe with the stereotypical boy-must-find-long-lost-father theme. I The ending is disappointing, though. D|Fullmetal Alchemist. Another mainstream anime, but it's pretty good. Not recommended for the highly-religious, but very good nonetheless.Durarara. Though I'm not that into it, it's the most popular anime in Japan, and it definitely has an interesting story.Fruits Basket. A shojo manga/anime where the animals of the zodiac's spirits are reincarnated in humans. A lovely love-story, though the anime ends pretty early manga-wise.Wolf's Rain. My friend absolutely loves this anime-- and, if it isn't obvious from the title, it's wolf-human based.D-Gray Man. Though it's pretty religious, it's okay.School Rumble. An adorable romantic comedy; it's really nostalgic for me, but I'll warn you about episode 12. ;DMushi-Shi. A calm, traditional anime about spirits called Mushi, centering around Ginko, who is a Mushi-master.I'll post more later. |DThat is a really great collection, couple of odd ones in there but most of them ive seen and think r truly amazing, though there are a few that i didnt think had manga releases, such as wolfs rain and elfen lied
Guest Scorpion03
Thanks! I've got pretty broad tastes here, but I'm positive that I left some out. Wolf's Rain and Elfen Lied had manga releases, I know that for sure. Elfen Lied was never released in America though, in other words, there are only scanlations.Ah right, thanks for the info, if they havent been released in the US theres no chance of getting them over here in the uk, ill have to see about having them imported. Vy'drach
When Eri walks in on Harima at the beach. :'D I had to switch channels quickly when my mom walked in;; So you've seen the series too? I'm glad! ^^Oh yeah, I love when Akira walks in on it too, and knows exactly what happened.
