An apology

I see writings on the wall that some of you out there feel that the way I have dealt with a certain person was biased and unfair.

I want you all to know that I do deeply care about this community as a whole, and I will not sacrifice it's integrity over one person. I can't be more proud of this community. We've had our hard times. We've even almost lost this community to domain expiration. But, this community has withstood every problem it has encountered, from the near-death caused by the original domain expiring, to the SA incident, to the random trolls, to the RP drama, we've always come back, strong as ever. 

In a time where pretty much all of the other Star Fox communities are either stagnant or are withering on-the-vine, we are growing. Although most of them are inactive, we've had over 270 new registrations in 2010 thus far. We are the #2 result for "starfox" and "star fox" on Google, second only to Wikipedia.

I remember when I could read all the threads posted in a day in one sitting. Now, it is impossible for me to read everything, and even with a staff of five full mods, keeping up with all of the posts is challenging.

It would be incredibly selfish of me to claim responsibility for that myself. Especially because I could not have done it by myself. We are the #1 English-Language Star Fox site on the internet because of YOU, the community. I am truly honored to serve this community.

Thus, I want to offer an apology to any of you who feel that I handled recent events in a biased manner. From this point forward, if you guys start to feel I am being biased, I will recuse myself from handling the issue.

The community as a whole is more important than one person, even me. Thus, I hope this will help avoid feelings of bias in the future.

Ah, don't worry about it DZ, after all, I'm still here, problem  ? Seriously though, I don't see the need to fully apologize , after all, this was basically controlled by the staff in a way that the community didn't have to suffer too much about it. We all had our bitching  moments

I wasn't even aware you did anything DZ. As far as I saw, Steve was the one handling all the issues on this person, if it's indeed who I am thinking of.

In any case, it shouldn't do anything to the community as stated. We're still here and we're overflowing with activity (so much that I've turtled up in like 5 topics and refuse to venture out.)

I believe the user in question recently made a significant miscalculation, and things did not go as well as he thought they would.  The grapevine has it that this user has since opted to take a break, and help ease the burdens of his friend DZComposer.  The user has said that he wishes his friends on Starfox-Online well, until someday when they may meet again under fairer skies.

Apology accepted...though if the problem is because of bias and unfairness in your actions, then saying the whole is more important than one person only goes so far.  If you want it to really mean something, make sure your future actions follow your words ^^

That was touching DZ, very honourable of you. I've never seen any admin apologise like that to his community, whether they wronged someone or not. This, DZ, is a testament to your character. It's understandable if you get overwhelmed by how popular this site is, and to take the time out to say something like this is admirable. I am definately proud to be a member here. *salutes*

I think DZ is trying to avoid even the appearance of bias.  In principle, I respect and admire that.  But I believe he was never just some chum to this particular user.  DZ is a principled person with lofty robust ethics.  It would be unfortunate if he were ever perceived by anyone as practicing favoritism.  In some ways, DZ and this other user are much alike, but DZ is blessed with far greater competence, foresight and composure.  He is both a skilled technician and a capable diplomat.  He's like a Slippy-Pepper mix.  This other user is more like a Slippy-Falco mix.  And just imagine Falco trying public relations.

I'm not starting a fight. I don't like fighting, I'm just saying that I would much rather have the "real" Dermot back rather than this shell of a membership, it's not fair on him, it's not fair on us. He should just come back, he was a cherished member of this community.

What is it with people's obsession with drama? Telling someone to "grow a pair" means "toughen up". Meaning, Dermot should let what other people say slide off his back, like water from a duck's feathers. Shying away from a good forum just because the mods got a little angry is just as bad as shying away from outside because the police were passing and said "Hey guys, can you keep it down? The neighbours are trying to sleep".

Dermot can be happy here, we can be happy here. Dermot is as entitles to happiness here the same as everyone else. <3

You make this sound like such a bad thing, and like we're badguys for running off a hero out of his castle or something.

As I've said, nobody is wrong here. Well, more like the opposite. Everyone was wrong. The only difference between us now is how we take this shake. Some of us have moved on, but if Dermot wants to lurk around and be vague, indirectly birthing MORE drama (as seen above) then let him. Only he can make the decision to come back and be good in the community, or continue doing, well, this.

I wouldn't call the above drama, phemon and I simply had a cross of opinions and a slight misunderstanding. If there was a problem, one of us would PM the other. But yeah Milky, I agree with you on everything else you just said.

On the internet drama is usually the local past time yes, for what reasons: I have no clue.

Also Redeemer I'm sure you meant no harm by it, but "growing a pair" can be really considered an insult in america. I know some things in Scotland are a bit different (As told to me by your sister Sam many times. XD) but here it really is equal to calling someone a "wuss" or a "little crybaby". So just letting you know, for later on.
