Sabre
According to a satirical podcast I listen to, some americans are opposed to mosquitoes, saying that teenagers hanging around being social is not a problem. To clarify, the joke was he sarcasticly saying how being young, hip and social is an menace to socity and must be stoped. Which makes me think teenagers must be different abroad. If your thinking "Bweh?" heres a quick summery. If you did understand or simply dont care, skip to the last bit.---Mosquitoes are triggerable speaker systems that let a loud high pitched noise only people who haven't completed puberty (ie. kids and teenagers) can hear. Kind of like a dog whistle for the immature. It is used in some places to stop teenagers hanging around and causing bother. These unnamed people in america have an issue with this, biased health studies and cailms of freespeech ect.Thing is, teenagers here most usually fall into a few social groups, the most comon being 'chavs' (known locally as chavas). Punks listen to metal, Emos cry and try to pretent to commit suicide, Chavs beat people up, shout swearwords, graffiti, smash up the place, play with knives, steal things, play loud rave music and generally be irritating and anti social. Given that most teenage fads are about rebelion (something I never understood personally) it's not uncommon for teenagers to be mistreated. The teenagers in this case are deserving of that hate I think. ---Anyway, the point of this post is what are most teenagers like where you live? Or if you are a teen, what social group (if any) do you belong to and what do you do when/if you're out and about?

Vy'drach
Pretty much like Chavs, except replace "kick-ass rave" with "gay-ass rap."Bit of swearing, but that's about a perfect sum up for SoCal teenagers.....and Goths read, write, draw, act strange, dress strange, and sit in the dark, listening to strange music.*Smack* Not all of us goths are like that. Guest Para Astaroth
Well, given that I only have two years of my youth age left, I don't really mingle with others because I'm not much of a vibrant talker. So, I usually hang by myself -- may say 'hey' to buddy every now and then -- because I'm working my go-nadds off in school. But I usually dress similar to the emo guys at my school -- skinny jeans, cool shirts, converse or skater shoes, but not that make-up crap -- but I dress more skater-ish due to the fact their clothes are nice.-------My god.... You can name what ever group/race/color/religion: We got them. It's so ridiculous sometimes.
Sarita
I know teenagers with the mosquito on their phone. It doesn't bother me, it's become white noise to me.There's actual physics involved in why teenagers can hear the mosquito and why adults can't. It has to do with the bones (or hairs, but I'm pretty sure it's bones) in the ear that are growing, and thus a bit soft, after puberty they stop growing and become a bit more stiff. It's a small change, but enough to make certain few noises at a certain level (pitch or frequency or tone?) undectable to adults. I think. I'll need to look it up. Four-eyed Vulpine
I can hear the noise, and I'm 23.Personally, I'm glad I'm not a kid (or a teenager) anymore. My life didn't really start until university.I was an introverted kid who grew up around adults during his childhood and didn't like putting up with the trivial matters of other kids. It's good to be older. I didn't even know it existed till not too long ago; 'twas a surprise to me. XD I suppose by all the twists of fate and what have you I was never given the chance to. But yeah, in the latter years of school I couldn't stand other kids. I still have a hard time dealing with people around my own age.
DZComposer
These mosquito things can do collateral damage. I remember reading a story about a man who got upset at his neighbor over one. The guy was tired of all the neighborhood kids hanging around near his house, so he bought one. Well, this didn't sit so well with the guy's 20-something neighbor, who heard the thing at night, making it hard for him to sleep. After repeated requests for the mosquito being turned-off, the guy called the cops. Naturally, the cops who arrived couldn't hear the thing, and never having heard of it, just thought the guy was hearing his CRT TV or something. They declared it a civil matter and left. The neighbor, now at his wit's end, took a baseball bat the the thing the next day and was promptly charged with vandalism.

I can understand putting those things in public areas, but in neighborhoods where people have to sleep? No freakin' way.
