Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, DOOM 3, and there's others that I'm sure I'm missing.

Modern Warfare 2 is awesome. So is Halo before some fanboy comes in saying how they are the worst games evar.

As for the topic. I'd have to say the Gears of War games. No More Heroes. FF7.

No More Heroes, Lost Planet 2 and Doom3 were the most dissapointing for me, i bought them all as soon as they were out and was so dissapointed they all got traded in within one week.

Though there are lots of others that should have been good but never quite cut it, usually sequels... Bioshock 2 was crap compared to the first, Mass Effect 2 compared to the first one, etc etc... (im not saying theyre bad games, just dont match the quality of the original releases).

Buishock 2, the sequal that should have never happened. The original was so self contained and left no loose threads.

I liked ME2.

GTA IV, Halo (After the first), Gears of War, Call of Duty (After 4), C&C

I'll think of more sometime.

Because it took an awesome game engine like DOOM, with awesome gameplay, and made it a generic FPS that was only praised for being "scary" when the teletubbies scared me more?

I don't think MW2 is overrated haha. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I used to think it was overrated until I played it online. I think Halo was way overrated after the first one too. I tried playing the rest of them after the first for long periods of time and I couldn't get into them haha.

Hm... not sure what other games I could think of...

Suprisingly... that's not saying much...

Anyways, COD:MW2, and... I'm pulling a blank, I got more, just can't think of any others.

Everyones just ragging on MW2! *rage*

And Halo. Some een claim Goldeneye was the best FPS ever, it is not.

The reason is fairly simple. They are nintendo fanboys, and thus Halo and MW2 are seen as the enemy. The way to tell a fanboy from a lagitimate complainer is the reasons. Often fanboys have never plkayed the game, or they give crap reasons like "It's not 100% realistic" "You have to pay to play online".

If someone gives reasons like "It's not my thing." "The story was silly" ect then thats fine. Even if you don't like the gameplay, (which is a bit flat all told) when you see the No Russian level, how can you not respect that game?

Well I know that lol. I liked Goldeneye too haha. I used to love Halo but I just can't get into it as much as before. I've played them all, online as well. Somethings wrong with me? I don't know haha, everyone else seems to love it.

The original FF7 is overated but still a pretty decent game.

Alot of people will probably be willing to punch me for saying this but I kinda think Portal Is kind of overated, It did have a very good story and had a very unieqe feel of gameplay that was entirly different from other games do. I enjoyed it But Its not the kind the game that I would be obsessed with like everyone else seems to be.

I agree portal was overrated, my friend told me its the most amazing game hed ever played as did a few others, and it was so built up that by the time i played it, i was massively dissapointed.

The only reason that I say MW2 is overrated is that it is incredibly similar to the first, with some subtle changes.  So many people claim it to be the BEST SHOOTER EVAR, ZOMGO111!!!!!12311!!!, when there are much better choices.  Don't get me wrong, it's not that bad of a game, but it was just so over-hyped at launch, and those ignorant fanboys that believe it was the first shooting game ever don't help either

Let us remember here that "overrated" doesn't mean "bad". It just means the game garners waaaaaay too much praise in spite of its flaws, or is unquestionably loved. They can still be GOOD.

Anyway, here's a few of mine....

I'd say Final Fantasy 7 is overrated, but due to the fact it has a HATEDOM just as big as its fandom, that hardly qualifies as unquestionably loved any more. The fans do tend to ignore the flaws of the game, though.

Final Fantasy 6 is also overrated, simply for being the "new" FF7. Everytime you see a FF7 hater, I can garuntee almost that their favorite FF was 6. It sort of annoys me.

I agree portal was overrated, my friend told me its the most amazing game hed ever played as did a few others, and it was so built up that by the time i played it, i was massively dissapointed.

The problem with Portal is you can beat it in 2 hours on your first try.

Another one for me, No More Heroes, as much as I love seing the blood shoot out of every enemy... It's really... Invisible wall filled...

Imma just saying, whenever I've seen MW2 mentioned in a bad way, you come back with that, nintendo fanboy, nostalgia factor, stuff like that, and really you've had no reason not to beleive that's why, but it's not always so. When people give crap reasons it can also just mean they don't know why they don't like it so their just thinking of any thing bad about the game. Although I do love some of nintendo's older games, I don't see MW2 as "The Enemy", I even enjoy playing it, just... not that much, and I'll "Down" it at any time. So lets see if I can think of some legitamet reasons for not liking it:

I don't get that adrenaline rush I get from other games.

... I can't think of anything else... So I'm stealing this one.

"It's not my thing."

The first one hasn't aged well. It's got horrible pacing, and 3 of the levels are the same room copy pasted over and over.

Herasy! :P

But yeah. Other then the over used "The cake is a lie" joke (which is even used by people who have never played the game) the stroy and humour in that game is really really nerdy. My fave joke is "2+2= 10 ....In base 4!"

The grind got me.

Do I really bring it up that often? I know it's stick reply to MW2 hate, but I didn't realise I was being a pest. But allow me to expand.

Nostalgia is a pet peeve of mine. People are buying into an idealised world that didn't exist. Claims of "Games were much better X years ago!" are wrong. Games today are better in ever objective way, and artistic experimentation means we know what works and what doesn't. I love classic survival horror style, but honestly, as much I love it and want more, those game had some serious issues. I have the Xbox version of Prefect Dark and love it to bits, but as Jeff Gurstman said "That game is for crazy people!"

Fanboys I don't need to explain.

Now onto why this relivant to Modern Warfare 2. Despite being on all platforms except Wii in some fasion, Wii fanboys see is as a Xbox game, and as such, bad for that reason only. It only happens to Nintendo fanboys and indie hippy types.

MW2, even if you don't like it. (as I said, the ai and mission in the campaign are kind of flat and mindless) You have to acknowlage it as at least a great work. The sound, the design. The multiplayer of MW1 revolutionized multiplayer, and the second one refined it to a mirror shine. The single player story is incredable. I'm a huge game fan and the MW are the only ones that had me thinking "Wow. This is serious." The adrinline, the tension, all there every time I play. The characters are people I care about.  have played thousands, if not tens of thousands of games, and none have had the impact of MW2. Let's take most comprebale games, the ones that come closest usually don't have the balls to mention specific places.

Now I'm going to be a knob here and say what do the fanboys have to claim that level of impact? A quote for some guy on the internet who said "Metroid is like Citizen Kane".

Let's be clear here. I love MW2, but it's not my all time favourite. That's Dino Crisis 2. I'd be hard pushed to even try and claim it's better then MW2. Hopfully this explains why I bring it up so often.

Halo you mean right? Talking about the 2 snowy levels? I forgot what they were called... Funny how Halo and Goldeneye both have copied levels that have snow... Just pointing that out. O:

Yep, Assault on the control room is one room and out door area copy pasted, then later you do it again backwards, the libery is another level where it's one room with the same waves of enemies over and over.
