Geez...why is this all being brought up again?

"Then I ask you Milky why do people who do not use this 'power' wisely have that 'power' (Not saying names or pointing Fingures.

In your subjective opinion that is. You could say the power is being abused while 10 others say it's being used correctly.  Mods and admins can't please everyone at the same time but very often we try to compromise to the best of our abilities but sometimes this isn't a realistically option :/

If DZ, Steve, or any mod makes a decision that pleases the majority of members and a few people oppose it and it's logistically the best course of action for the board as a whole (banning decisions are more so a collective decision after being discussed thoroughly) then why WOULDN'T they follow that course of action?

It's not that they staff can never be wrong it's weather the Staff is humble enough to accept that they can be.

Again...according to who?  I've admitted my faults and ill conceived posts at times in the Pub for example and if I make a decision that turns out to be something that shouldn't have been done then by all means I'd admit wrongdoing.  One of the qualities of a leader or master debater (not saying that I'm either) is to admit when they are wrong about something (and it's damn obvious to most everyone involved).  It shows humility and people like that in an individual.

Because life isn't always fair?

While that point is valid I personally would prefer not to use it as a main argument. :)

true, but it wouldnt help much because by it's very nature people are afraid of speaking out against the staff.

Ordinary people with ban hammers.

pretty much...

All I'm saying is there's no reason to be afraid of the staff. As long as you're civilized and not a douchebag, any leader worth their salt will listen.

I usually don't, but I was busy at the time and didn't feel like going into as much detail as you did. Had I, I likely would have responded much the same as you: can't please everyone, all that jazz.

1. depends User first of all  I have to ask would it be truley wise to bann this person  would alot of members reject this idea if not well i have no problem with it I think it's more like Election of a president in the US You don't find out it was a bad choice untill you do it. And or point 2. Sorry I'm only going to be subjective in order to not anger anyone.

This. I've had my fair share of douchebags tell me what I've done wrong. I have my fair share of bad days, and it sometimes comes out in my work, but I don't think I've ever been outright rude.

We don't bite, really.

To answer what Kursed said, banning people isn't a popularity contest. Banning people is a "you've broken the rules too many times and it's time for you to go" kind of thing.

Which brings me to a reqest Instead of just sayin BAM heres you punishment could I for once KNOW WHAT RULE I BROKE AND MAYBE SOME ADVICE  TO AVOID BREAKING IT IN THE FUTURE!? I mean seriously how can you teach someone it's wrong to steal without them knowing what stealing is? I've had a lot of problems with this in the past where I've just been  temp banned with no explanation.

True.  But I once belonged to 2 other sites, both non star fox related, and when I voiced a genuine, civil in nature appeal to the staff about something,

I think that certain standards need to be better enforced.  I'm not trying to tell you guys how to run your site, I only want to offer a helpful suggestion.  Also, some members and I agree, that the attitude of certain staff members has been very rude, both via private communication and publicly...As the old saying goes, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar", and furthermore...
I found myself banned from that one site, and when I stood up for another staff member at the other site, saying
"Although I don't fully agree with what [Member X] said in several topics, he never broke the forum posting rules, and he didn't ever insult anyone.  A few people were offended, but they tend to take umbridge to anything.  My point is, I don't think [Member X] should be banned."
I got a nasty email saying I was perma banned.  Though in fairness, I know that not all sites are the same, I'm pretty sure saying stuff like that to the staff here might not warrant a ban.

Indeed. My favourite one was along the lines of "Being a douche and starting shit" which kept getting taken out of my sig hench the current "Stop editing this" bit and another with no explaination and no member of staff would admit to making. Still have no idea what that was about.

There are other issues, but the main one I will mention is hypocrasy. Let's say there is no swearing rule, but the staff swears like a bishop until someone else swears. Anyway, that's getting off topic.

People scared of us admins going "banhammer" on them? Seriously xD. I have only banned 5 people , one of them was a temp ban (Matt) the other one was that dude that ragequit and started to post random yiff after we originally banned him, and the other 3 were obvious trolls. I might have forgotten some, but I'm sure they were one or two dailybans.

Also, DZ and I and probably most of the staff have our fair share of "community improvements" and enough reasons to go judgement day with some people here, but we aren't doing anything cause we believe in 10th chances.

I seriously thought we agreed we were all going to drop this off, the staff has followed the agreement (for what I know), but I see SOME people here going "ololol no staff sucks cause they did this to me before and I'm a god sent person, I didn't do anything! I swear and like, I have the right to complain all the time"

Seriously, stop. This topic is called "Open thread on staff improvements" not "let's all hate the staff" . Unless of course, I'm missing something here.

Good, cause I would rather be wrong and make fun of myself than having to deal with the whole may-august ordeal again.

You want to know the truth? I removed that bit about the staff from your sig.

"Being an illogical drama whore and starting shit" -SFO Staff."

I did it because it doesn't belong. To me, it shows disrespect towards staff, and also shows that perhaps you don't like us.

I wasn't the one who said it. I think it's hillarious. It only get's funnier when you know the events leading up to it. Unfortunatly everyone is all "drop the issue!" so I can't go into it.

It wouldn't have anything to do with the souls debate that you lost and are butthurt about, would it? If so, I agree, it IS funny how a man will stab and tell everyone how right he was in his sig without, I dunno, actually proving himself right. Bonus points if the butthurt is great enough to start breaking rules over.

Milky and Sabre, enough.  Seriously I'm going to start deleting posts in this topic if they have absolutely nothing to do with the original topic and are inflammatory or trollish towards other members.

This starts NOW.

Well, like I said before, I ? SFO's Staff, they rule in all their awesomeness. No changes need to be made.

In my honest opinion, That should have been happening a long time ago. Not in this section mainly, but in MANY other places. =/....

Really? You think NO changes need to be made?...

Anywho, staff members know what I would like to see changed for this to be a more accepting place. I haven't seen the changes done a lot, if at all, after staff members agreed to try it. Anywho, I think certain staff members need to be equally strict to everyone, and not give others the stupid "Oh stop, silly :P" treatment to some, then be all strict to others. It doesn't matter if you "Know" they take your word to heart, because that is a load of bull, seeing how some people who get the nicer treatment don't change. It isn't fair.

I've done that in other topics, for example in several of them I've told people to get back on topic. The problem is that people don't seem to want to listen or continue to poke implied jabs at people and then when I get back on hours later the situation is abysmal. I really don't like telling people "Okay seriously, STFU all of you" when people are really bad.  That's just not my style.

In some other topics some of the discussion, IMO, was valid side tracking material even if it got a little heated and thus I personally didn't see a need to lock the topic (although it was quite borderline).  I personally really hate locking topics, especially if one or two members jump in 6 pages in and start some conflict.  It's more preferable to just delete one or two pages of flame war material then shut down a discussion but if it needs to be done it will be done.

Accepting as in promoting tolerance, equality, and harmony?  I'm in agreement to that.  However, sometimes if prior members have had problems with the staff in the past there's a reason to be a little harsher on them at times given their reputation.  Why do you think criminals get a harsher sentence after committing the same crime a 2nd time?  Of course I'm not comparing troublemakers on SFO directly to criminals, just the concept of strictness for people who have a detrimental rep on SFO.  As far as everyone else is concerned yes they should all be treated equal.  I try to be as fair as possible at times but yes I slip up from time to time and I already know what examples you're referring to.
