DZComposer
The whole "climate gate" thing was a context thing. Emails were taken out of context and spun to make it look like scientists were exaggerating the climate situation. It is worth noting that after careful review, all of the scientists involved were cleared of any scientific misconduct. There is a lot off money to be lost by powerful people if we move away from fossil fuels, and these people will fight hard to stop any change. "User"
The whole "climate gate" thing was a context thing. We are having a very hot summer right now compared to almost all of them in the last 100 or so years and do we see any climate stuff in the newspapers since the email fiasco? Not nearly as much as there was a year or two ago. People don't care right now about the climate and it's not their #1 concern, the only people who would have it as their priority are young voters who vote for green political parties and those under 18. Good thing minors can't vote.....stoners

Markets will change. I'm sure weaponsmiths didn't like being pushed out by gunsmiths, and I'm sure horse breeders didn't like being shoved out by the automobile. That is how the world turns, by the new overturning the old. That and I am sure that there are some distinctly fossil-fuel based uses (like rocket ships), but with enough technology advancement alot of common, simple things like cars and house energy can be improved upon and replace petroleum. DZComposer
The thing with climate change is that it's effects are not immediate and are not really apparent unless you look at lots of historical data. Also, CO2 has been demonstrated to have an insulating effect, and when we pump a lot of it into the atmosphere, it's hard not to imagine it doing the same thing there. But, when it comes to who do you trust on climate issues, I'd rather trust the world-renowned climatologists than economists and oil and coal industry trade groups. A lot of people forget that science is not about having a belief. It's about research and finding out how things are. This is why studies are peer-reviewed to make sure that the researcher eliminated any personal bias. The scientific community is quite strict about this and anyone spreading horsecrap that isn't backed by evidence is quickly exposed. This is why I think we need to listen to what the scientists are saying.Industry reps will not release anything detrimental to their industry. Anything coming from a trade group is inherently biased. It doesn't make good business sense for a coal industry trade group to say burning coal is bad for the environment, even if the evidence is contrary. True big oil doesn't like the idea, but then other people have money to gain from this too, in particual goverment who are using it to increase taxes. After all, big oil isnt a monopoly. I point you to the cure for cancer conspirasy again.http://www.gokorea.info/cp/ep3.mp3After all, gas lights got replaced with electic, but guess what, gas is still around. If we developed some eco fuel, do you not think big oil would jump on the bandwagon? After all, they already have the means to distribute whatever we end up using.
