It doesn't anymore, but to this day I could not tell you why it used to scare me so much...Nowadays, I just don't like loud pops or bangs- my ears are sensitive to them so it bothers me/makes me jumpy. When I was reading Christine, he talked about her tires peeling out, and some idiot peeled his tires out RIGHT outside my house not two seconds after I read that line. And another time, he mentioned an unearthly howl or something along those lines, and a cat started doing that deep, belly "mrrrrooowwwwllll" that makes em sound like they're dying, RIGHT outside my window.
