Asper Sarnoff
As a way to encourage and inspire the very active roleplaying community we have here at SF-O to further pursue increasingly better heights of roleplaying I am now delighted to announce that I from this year, and onward each year if this proves to be a success, that we will now host a roleplaying contest here on SF-O.The judging process won't start before the end of 2010, and the results will thus have to wait til somewhere in January. How one is nominated to participate in the contest, I'm still trying to decide. I'll post instructions on this as soon as I have thought out a satisfying process to do this. But, see as all ones roleplaying from the entire year of 2010 will be eligible for this contest, there is no excuse for not starting today!Specifically, we will be looking for roleplayers who manage to blend their creativity, skills at writing their ideas into an exciting piece of text, as well as satisfactory abilities within spelling and grammar. Good ideas, stories and character which manages to move readers emotionally, will be the key to victory. As of now, there are several categories one might compete in. And these are as following:Best portrayal of male character.Best portrayal of female character.Best portrayal of antagonist.Best newcomer. Which means this person didn't start roleplaying on SF-O before 1. January 2010One might be able to get nominated within several of these categories, either with the same role or/and with several roles one have played over the year.If there any categories you think I have forgotten, send me a PM. But I can't guarantee it will be included.See as the judging process was the largest problem in the last contest hosted here at SF-O, that is also a chief concern to me. I might take it upon myself, but see as I'm an avid roleplayer myself, that would make my neutrality a problem. Preferably, I would like a few, dedicated judges who doesn't roleplay here themself, but know what separates good roleplaying from bad. If you think that description fits you, and you want to help making this contest a success, feel free to send me a PM.So far, I have no special ideas for prizes for the winners except that one will know one came out on top among several fierce competitors. But this might be changing before the victors are decided.Best regardsAsper

Guest Para Astaroth
I don't see any point in this. Why are we judging on the best RP'er anyways? Wouldn't that only put others down...?
Sarita
Not at all. It's a reward for those who have been exemplary in the past year. It's a great way to encourage better role-playing.We're in no way judging who the "best RP'er" is.

Sarita
Well you're wrong. How about you just see how it works out instead of being skeptical at the sight of it? Asper said he didn't have all the details worked out yet. I trust Asper to make it as fair as possible.
Asper Sarnoff
If someone who doesn't win chose to view it that way, would it really be that hard for them to accept that they didn't do as good a job as someone else? This is one of the things I dislike the most about my home country in fact. How one must hold back those who want to give things a go to please the ego of those who didn't get to the top this time. And thanks Sissi, your faith is much appreciated. Sarita
I never said you were. Being an older user doesn't give you the right to belittle the opinions of others. Stop, please.
Guest Para Astaroth
Having seniority doesn't protect you if you're being a jerk. Then explain this.Anyways, sure why not? Since there are already a few with belittling already setting in.
Asper Sarnoff
I think I'll have to edit the original post to include "On a members request, he/she will be ineligible for nomination in this contest." It seems Harmony would want to put his name down on that list.

Sarita
Then explain this.Anyways, sure why not? Since there are already a few with belittling already setting in.I meant, you mentioned that you were an older member thus your opinion was more important. It's not. And being an older member wont protect you if I feel like you're being needlessly a jerk. And why not? Because it's your place, as an older member, to report whoever's being an asshole to us mods, and we'll handle it. It in NO WAY gives you the right to be an asshole yourself. Actions of others, their behavior, economical issues, and a lot of other crap is why I've changed from my younger self from whenever I was a new member being on for several weeks. So, if I'm seeming like one, then it's not mine or anyone elses -- it's the way life is.

Asper Sarnoff
Judging by Harmonys new signature, it actally seems like he doesn't plan to stick around for long anyway.I'm ready to quit this site. Guest Mr. Mario
Asper, I was wondering, when someone wins that award, is it going to be displayed under the username's profile like we would see some ADMIN and MOD badges underneth them?
